You're most important responsible is receiving and prioritizing emergency and non-emergency requests and for dispatching Campus Safety Officers. A Customer Service Assistant is a valuable resource for members of our campus community who come into contact with you while issuing college identification cards, parking permits, answering questions and phone inquiries. This position also assists with routine office functions including but not limited to filing, spreadsheet maintenance, and data entry. A successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly, have strong customer service skills, be knowledgeable of office procedures, and be able to connect with our diverse campus community. This position reports to the Emergency Management Specialist. Essential Functions * Obtain necessary information via telephone, radio and/or written materials to determine an incident location utilizing maps and any available tools and relay that information to responding personnel to maximize the accuracy and speed of dispatch. * Provide information via communications systems to coordinate the activities of campus safety officers and other emergency responders. * Work under stress with accuracy in a calm and efficient manner, accurately recording pertinent information into dispatch software. * Maintain contact with customer and Officers to assure safety and efficiency; inform officers of the status of the situation and receive and maintain officer's status and location at appropriate times; respond to calls and radio transmissions appropriately. * Meet, greet and put the public, faculty, staff and students at ease by answering questions, in person or over the telephone regarding the department services and/or parking rules and regulations. * Provide photo identification cards for students, faculty and staff upon request. * Issue student, employee and guest parking permits. * Update & maintain extensive parking and citation database. * Process restrictions on student records when necessary due to parking infractions. * Perform word processing, spreadsheet and other clerical support functions. * Assist in organizing and coordinating aspects of the department's customer service counter. * Perform other related duties as assigned. The college seeks faculty who will adapt to a variety of teaching situations, can use technology to teach effectively, and will work with students, staff, and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and student success. The associate faculty will be responsible for teaching Visual Communications courses that specialize within graphic design, digital illustration, digital imaging, UI/UX design, and video editing/production field of study. This lecture/lab course utilizes a classroom outfitted with a computer lab with Adobe Creative Cloud. The instructor will also be responsible for working with the Visual Communications Chair in the maintenance and ongoing development. Faculty members are responsible for the following: teaching assigned classes to a diverse student body in either an classroom/studio environment combined with online course management and/or within an online/hybrid model; developing curriculum; preparing teaching materials; developing and assessing student learning outcomes to evaluate student work; assigning grades; maintaining required records; and consulting with students to support their success. Salary $920 per Instructional Unit Up to 10 IU's/Quarter Yakima Valley College seeks an innovative adjunct Psychology Instructor, who is active and accomplished in his or her discipline, who has a record of successful teaching or related experience, and who is committed to community college students and their success. This position is part-time, non-tenure track. Reporting to the Dean - Arts and Sciences, the adjunct Psychology Instructor will be culturally competent with commitment and expertise in working with diverse populations, utilize appropriate technology in the classroom, and have a record as a successful teacher demonstrating strong promise as a contributing member of the Arts and Sciences Division. YVC offers opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, encourages cooperative learning and use of technologies in the classroom and for e-learning. All faculty are engaged in the assessment of college goals and purposes.JOB PROFILE: The primary responsibility of this position is to teach courses in Psychology, as needed. * Participation in college-wide registration and advising, a commitment to systematic classroom/department/college assessment and improvement * Preparation of class materials, course and curriculum planning * Availability for student consultation outside of class on a daily basis * Maintenance of high expectations for students * Participation in campus-wide committees * Ordering textbooks and audiovisual materials * Assessment and evaluation of individual student progress * Maintenance of student records * Referring students to other appropriate college staff as necessary * Demonstration of student-centered values consistent with the community college philosophy MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Earned Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology or closely related field * Successful completion of significant coursework in psychology * Successful demonstrated teaching experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience teaching at the college level, preferably at the community college level * Experience or interest in teaching populations diverse in age, culture, and ethnicity * Understanding of and commitment to the community college philosophy and life-long learning * Experience or interest in using a variety of classroom methodologies and modalities (e.g. assessment, collaborative learning, interactive teaching, e-learning, learning communities) * Experience and/or evidence of willingness to work as part of the college community (e.g. committees, college activities) * Experience or interest in curriculum development and assessment Application Instructions: To apply for this position, you MUST submit a complete YVC Online Employment Application, and include the following REQUIRED attachments: * A cover letter describing how you meet the qualifications of this position (a generic cover letter will not be accepted) * A current resume (a resume will not substitute for the "work experience" section of the online application) * Three (3) professional references (personal references do not count as professional) * Unofficial transcripts for confirmation of degree (if minimum qualifications require a degree).
