Tank Farm Operator 1

The Tank Farm Operator 1 will operate and maintain assigned equipment performing tasks, such as the transportation of various cargoes, as required while assisting the crew with other duties.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Loading and unloading Vessels
  • Gauge’s petroleum products transferred to and from tanks, trucks, rail cars.
  • Performs valve lineups, switch and tank changes as required to move petroleum products in and out of storage tanks.
  • Works diligently and follows all safety requirements to prevent product contamination, spills and avoid product loss.
  • Performs tank inspections, make routine daily inspection of facilities.
  • Assists drivers, performs vessel, truck and rail rack operations duties as assigned.
  • Maintains location appearance, repair and replace equipment, maintain facility.
  • May perform other general maintenance responsibilities as directed.
  • Works in a safe manner, which follows company safety policies and standards.
  • You may be asked to participate in an Emergency Response Team (ERT); please understand that participation in the ERT is both an expectation and condition of employment.

Qualification and Education Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma or GES is required.

Pilot plants at UOP are bench scale assemblies of high pressure equipment where experiments are conducted for the purpose of catalyst and process development for the Refinery and Petrochemical industries. As a Tank Farm Operator with the Support Group, you will be supporting the pilot plants in producing quality data for our customers. Activities supported by this role include preparing and delivering feedstocks, blending chemicals & hydrocarbon feeds, handling plant liquid & solid products, ordering chemicals, maintaining ownership over vessels & tanks. You will be responsible for your work area to ensure safe and efficient operation and you will make use of the Honeywell Operating System to continuously make improvements.

Job Duties Include:

+ Forklift usage for handling drums, pressurized vessels and cylinders containing chemicals.

+ Operating/handling valve assemblies, various fittings, hose connections, transfer lines, pumps etc. to generate blends of chemicals used in pilot plant testing.

+ Handling incoming pilot plant product samples, tracking and storing in designated storage areas.

+ Sampling chemical blends and plant products for delivery to analytical labs using appropriate PPE and designated containers.

+ Ordering chemicals and feedstocks for our customers via SAP.

+ In-person inspection of site equipment, vessels, equipment, containment areas etc. per compliance policies.

+ Ability to occasionally climb ladders, especially for bulk tanks and various vessels.

+ Lifting and manipulation of containers, samples, and other objects up to 35 pounds may be required.

+ Handling of chemicals and other hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals is required.

+ Ability to wear a full-face respirator as well as understanding per OSHA guidelines any facial hair that interferes with the seal of the respirator is not permitted.

+ Potential for cross-training and conducting work in other areas of the support group including reactor loadings, meter calibrations, servicing of plant parts and various equipment, operating distillation columns.
