    Responsible for rendering clinical care within the medical practice in support of and as directed by the physician. Will also have general responsibilities to assist in the day to day operation of this office to ensure quality patient care. We will accept certification from NCCT, ARMA, AAH, ASPT and NHA. MA or nursing school may be used as part of the experience required. * Must possess the cognitive ability to understand patient's medical records, physician's orders and medical orders to be communicated to patients, hospitals and or other physicians. * Must possess the sense of discipline to work by accepted clinical standards. * Six months experience preferred. Area of Responsibilities * Customer Service -Participates in patient satisfaction initiatives. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills. Communicates effectively with patients and management regarding service recovery opportunities. Works together with other team members to achieve Office and System customer service goals. * Development -Maintain and update level of skill for pertinent medical assistant duties. Participate in continuing education. Participate in the development of new programs (ex: Process Improvement, Quality Initiatives). * Patient Care - Demonstrate competency in patient care. Maintain patient's safe passage in and out of the clinic, and ancillary services. Greet, assess and interview patients. Review present medications, allergy history, chief complaint, and brief interrogation of complaint. Update medication list and current problem list. Obtain past medical and surgical history, family history, social history, and vital signs. Anticipate needs of patients, and the doctor under whom I work. Prepare and assist patients for examination, treatment, or procedure by medical staff. Monitoring of patient during examination or procedure. Administer injections, perform phlebotomy and or lab testing, wound care, suture removal, etc., as directed by provider. Supply patients with medication samples as instructed by provider. Obtain referrals and pre-certifications as necessary. Act as a liaison between provider and patient. Explain medications, side effects, treatments, diets, diseases, and disease processes. Communicate with patients over the telephone. provide test results, answer questions, and respond to messages in a timely manner, and provide clear documentation of this communication in the patient's record. Maintain patient confidentiality. * Safety -Maintains working knowledge of medical equipment and removes faulty equipment from use as necessary. Participates in safety programs . * Teamwork -Works well with others and functions as a team player. Offers ideas and solutions for issues that affect the team and work area. Stocks and orders supplies as needed. Maintains patient care areas. Participates in the training and skills development of new medical assistants. Assists in other areas of the office as necessary. * May be responsible for handling of medications to include: maintaining proper inventory on hand, ordering from approved distributor, and receiving medication orders from the distributor by timely checking-in of the medications to ensure proper storage and handling for the maintenance of the integrity and security of the medications. May be responsible for properly documenting the wastage of medications, monitoring and reporting the wastage. This includes the monitoring and proper disposal of expired medications. May be responsible for resolving and or reporting medication errors. May be responsible for the reconciliation of medication charges and credits. * Other duties as assigned. Is responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Hotline. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Clinical and Non-Clinical Duties and Expectations * Rotates among various clinical and non-clinical service areas, such as x-ray (where performed), and front office. * Registers patients upon entrance to facility. * Assists with completion of FMLA forms. * Coordinates/communicates information with Workers Compensation Adjuster. * Orders clinical supplies and stock exam rooms. * Prepares exam rooms to aid physicians with treatment of patients. * Performs vital signs and gathers information to prepare patients for provider examination. * Assists physician/APP with bracing, splinting, casting, injections, suture, and staple removal. * Performs basic wound care under the direction of the physician/APP. * Performs as a medical scribe, assisting physician/APP with documentation of progress note and order entry. * Assists with the preparation of pharmaceutical refills for physician/APP approval. * Performs precertification of surgery, schedules surgery, and post operative therapy, and home health care. * Assists with DME orders and instruction for patients. * Maintains required clinical logs: cast saw, eye wash stations, emergency boxes, oxygen tanks. * Assists with medical assistant student clinical rotations and mentorship, and cross-training of other team members. * Assists with patient calls and inquiries, and escalates triage calls to the RN, APP, or physician. * Anticipates and maintains the safety needs of the patient. * Ensures accurate and timely documentation in the EMR. Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory Duties and Expectations (In areas performed) * Perform radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist clinical team and physicians in treatment of the patients. * Prepare and position the patients for imaging procedures ensuring all proper techniques including radiation protection. * Obtain optimum views as ordered by the physician * Process images and review for proper identification and quality control. * Cross train other team members * Complete and maintain logs, reports, and documentation *Process, log and prepare labs for shipment to laboratory Patient Liaison * Provides relationship-based patient centered care that is consistent with population specific characteristics (e.g. age, gender, disease, etc) in a manner that adapts service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity. * Always partners with the patient and significant others and/or family (as appropriate) using such appropriate method for setting and purpose (e.g.,huddles; interdisciplinary rounds; just in time and explanation of physicians instructions); keeping the patient at ease in the physicians office, and making the patients goals the focus of the plan of care. * Practices using current clinical practice standards. Teamwork and Collaboration * Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model. This includes, but is not limited to diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods (huddles, interdisciplinary rounds); completion of timely documentation and promotion of a respectful, inclusive clinical environment. * Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a manner that is fiscally responsible and promotes the recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
