Operations technician job at Targa Resources
Successful candidate will become a member of a team responsible for the operation of a natural gas liquid fractionation [NGL] unit and associated facilities located at the Mont Belvieu facility. JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Conduct all job-related tasks in a safe manner; comply with all governmental and corporate regulations (including site-specific procedures) related to occupational safety, employee health and the environment.
* Conduct periodic inspection of the facility and report on any unsafe conditions or, conditions posing a potential conflict with environmental permits or regulations to local management.
* Monitor operating conditions, report variances from normal conditions and take appropriate actions to maintain optimum process performance.
* Complete all assigned tasks in assigned area(s) of responsibility including those related to compliance assurance.
* Complete all deviation reports, including safety, environmental and work orders.
* Respond to any direction provided by the supervisor, and/or senior operator on the shift.
* Prepare portions of the facility or specific items of equipment for maintenance or repair.
* Execute all tasks related to startup and shutdown of equipment in assigned areas of responsibility.
* Participating in emergency response activities
* Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School Diploma or GED equivalent
* Valid Texas Driver's License
* Willing to work overtime to meet business needs and critical activities including relief for employees on vacation or personal leave
* Interpersonal communication skills are required to interface with all affected crafts, personnel, contractors and customers
* Must work with a minimum of supervision and be able to manage their time when given multiple tasks
* Regular and reliable attendance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Three years of plant experience preferred
* Fractionation experience
* Degree or Certificate in Process Operations
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Ability to lift, push, and pull at least a minimum of 50lbs.
* Ability to work in changing climate conditions
* Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing
* Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, FRC).
* The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
* Ability to work with equipment, hand and power tools, and lifts utilizing safe and environmentally responsible procedures
* Full exposure to extreme weather changes and humidity/moisture relative to atmospheric condition variations. Includes exposure to extreme summer and winter temperatures
* Work is generally performed in an industrial environment (indoors or outdoors) with various hazards and noise exposure
* Availability for rotating DuPont schedule, unscheduled callouts and extended workdays and/or workweeks
* Overtime, weekend and/or holiday hours may be required as directed by scheduling and business needs

Overview
In this role, the Field Operations Technician will be responsible for commissioning, service, maintenance, and testing of the Verax analytical equipment in downstream, midstream, and upstream field locations. In this role, the Field Operations Technician will be expected to apply knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and fluid transport principles to support sales, operations, and engineering in every aspect of the company. Travel to the field where our equipment is installed will be required regularly. The candidate should be comfortable working independently and communicating across multiple platforms with customers and remote team members.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Field Operations Foreman, the Field Operations Technician will have direct responsibility for the following:
Safely commission analyzers and ancillary components in the field
Capture liquid and gas hydrocarbon samples in the field to improve Verax analyzer accuracy
Perform pre-installation site surveys to determine where to locate analyzer and measurement points
Maintain and service systems in field installations to ensure accurate data is generated
Work closely with customer service managers to ensure all necessary electrical and controls equipment systems are in place and functioning properly
Maintain, modify, and troubleshoot embedded PCs, software, and communication devices
Ensure site connectivity to remote and cloud data centers via telecommunication networks
Provide training and technical support for customers and partners at their sites
Adopt a safety-first attitude and adhere strictly to both customer and Flotek safety regulations
Candidate Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience with electrical/mechanical systems
Valid driver's license (with no restrictions)
Availability to be in the field on a daily basis
Willingness to travel outside your region for installations in other areas of the country

Specific Responsibilities The Well Operations Technician is a technical position that is responsible for the optimization of all wells through its entire life cycle, from flowback to Plug & Abandonment. This position is expected to become an expert on all forms of surface operations and downhole artificial lift, including Rod Pump, ESP, Plunger Lift, Gas Lift, PAGL, Intermittent Lift, Jet Pump, and Progressive Cavity Pump.
* Communicate with the engineering team to choose the correct forms of artificial lift, troubleshoot wells, test new forms of technology, and minimize failure rates.
* Lead failure meetings to identify root causes and improvement opportunities with cross-function team of engineering, workover, chemical and lease operator representatives.
* Install calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair pump off controllers, radios, and drives.
* Troubleshoot problem wells using multiple tools and techniques both in the field and computer.
* Thorough familiarity with all configuration and inspection of rod pumps, including annual pumping unit inspections and repairs.
* Troubleshoot all forms of artificial lift through personal knowledge or external resources.
* Work with a multi-disciplined team to complete maintenance on well pad surface equipment.
* Perform artificial lift design using Rodstar.
* Complete failure analysis on wells before turning over to engineering.
* Coordinate with workover team during well intervention.
* Operate and perform minor repairs on model D and E Echometers.
* Demonstrate proficiency with PC based computer applications including but not limited to MS Office applications, Cygnet, TAM, OFM, Avocet, XBal.
* Assist in evaluation of chemical programs, maintaining consistent communication with the chemical team.
* Supervise crews and cranes on pumping unit moves and repairs.
* Attend pump teardowns and work with pump shops, engineering and the chemical team to complete Root Cause Failure Analysis on all downhole equipment failure.
* Mentor lease operators on troubleshooting wells and issues at the facilities.
* Handle all regulatory matters including handling the H-5s, H-15s, and MITs
* Supervise well stimulations and smaller intervention work including wireline, slickline, swabbing units.
* Handle miscellaneous jobs as needed, including flowback, data integrity reviews, hot watering, and temporary assistant foreman duties.

We are seeking a Plant Operations Tech at Port Arthur, TX facility. The Port Arthur facility is comprised of two Steam Methane Reformer (SMR) with integrated gas turbine generators, and CO2 capture facilities at both SMR's, supporting enhanced oil recovery. The site is tied into an existing hydrogen pipeline system that spans from New Orleans to the Houston Ship Channel and supplies hydrogen to the integrated supply network for consumption by customers across the Gulf Coast Franchise.
As an operator you are responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting the equipment and facility. The basic function of this role is to provide necessary technical and hands- on support to continuously improve plant operation, maintenance, mechanical equipment integrity, reliability, cost, and on-stream factor.
This is a 12-hour shift position that works a rotating shift schedule.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
Participate in the basic safety process as a key member of the Site Safety committee and sharing responsibility for the site's overall safety performance.
Provide day-to-day operation of the plant to support the plant on-stream, production and reliability targets.
Investigate equipment failures, determine root cause of failure, and recommend appropriate solutions to reduce reoccurrence of/or eliminate cause of failure.
Maintain an error-free execution. Pay very close attention to details and implement work to the highest possible standard. Apply a Continuous Improvement philosophy to daily work.
Participate in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns. Provide technical and hands- on support as required during shutdowns.
Provide troubleshooting expertise for the production units.
Follow Operating procedures.
Promote safety rules and regulations.
This is a Safety Sensitive Position.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

1. An Associates degree in instrumentation or mechanics from a technical college with a minimum of three year's experience in gas pipeline operations and/or maintenance of related mechanical equipment. Electronic instrumentation and controls experience is preferred; or
2. A general educational knowledge normally acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) with a minimum of four year's experience in gas pipeline operations and/or maintenance of related mechanical equipment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Ability to generate 125-foot pounds of force, pushing and pulling, at a contact point of 70 inches. (Ex: operating valves) 2. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Execute periodic inspections of plant equipment to determine proper and normal operating conditions. Check and record operational data such as fluid levels, temperatures and pressures, compare to trends and have the ability to make corrections as needed.
Complete all inspection, preventative maintenance and corrective activity in Clean Energy's CMMS system, Microsoft Dynamics D365 Field Service. Ensure tasks are completed, notes are comprehensive and accurate, and all labor, parts and consumables are documented in the system.
Review daily operating reports and other records to ensure specified operating characteristics in control of the plant equipment.
Ensure the reception of raw materials to the digester which may include sampling/testing.
Detect and correct faulty and malfunctioning mechanical and electrical components, devices and equipment.
Diagnose equipment malfunctions during emergencies and direct activities to restore normal operation or to shut down malfunctioning unit.
Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical system wiring from control wiring up to 480 volts.
Remove, install and modify equipment.
Notify the Gas Plant Manager of a shutdown or major changes in output of unit.
Maintain all plant equipment and structures in accordance with manufactures and Company guidelines.
Cooperate in routine and special tests and plant inspections to improve operations and maintain safe working conditions.
Maintain a clean workspace including the plant building, control room, rest room, break room and grounds.
Responsible for the use of heavy equipment including fork truck, manlift, loader and/or vac equipment.
Comply with all company safety policies and programs. Ensure all incidents are reported immediately to the EHS department.
Participate in on-call duty and remote plant monitoring according to the scheduled rotation.
