This is a 9-month non-tenure-track position located on Tarleton's main campus in Stephenville, Texas. Summer appointment is dependent upon need and funding availability. Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work and teaching requirements indicate. May be assigned to teach at various campus locations or through approved instructional modalities, as determined by the institution based on operational needs. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence and innovation in teaching, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and participate in the necessary operation of the institution. Teaching responsibilities will include a range of undergraduate courses, including Introductory Sociology, Social Problems, and upper-level courses aligned with the successful candidate's area of expertise.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
100% Teaching and Service:
* Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, seminars, and/or laboratory offerings to undergraduate and/or graduate students, which may include general education core curriculum.
* Develop course syllabi, select instructional materials, and design assessments such as exams, quizzes, papers, etc.
* Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and evaluate student learning outcomes to inform teaching practices and curriculum improvements.
* Engage students in active learning, foster critical thinking skills, and provide opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
* Provide academic support and guidance to students through office hours, feedback on assignments, and mentoring.
* Adhere to university policies, academic integrity standards, and accreditation requirements related to teaching responsibilities.
* Incorporate innovative teaching methods, technologies, and pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning and engagement.
* Engage in ongoing professional development activities to stay current in the field, improve teaching skills, and explore new instructional strategies.
* Collaborate with colleagues, departmental faculty, and university staff to coordinate course offerings, share resources, and contribute to program development and improvement.
* Participate in institutional service roles including but not limited to, college committees, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment, and mentoring of new and part-time faculty.
Minimum Requirements:
* Ph.D. in Sociology (ABD will be considered but the required terminal degree must be posted at the time of appointment) from an accredited university.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of disciplinary subject matter at a level adequate for graduate-level instruction; written and oral communication skills sufficient to conduct effective teaching and research activities; ability to interact with students, staff, and faculty in a professional, collegial, and collaborative manner.

This is a nine-month, tenure track position that reports to the Head of the Department of Agricultural Sciences. WTAMU is located in the Texas Panhandle, one of the largest cattle feeding areas in the world (6 million head annually), and one of the most prolific crop-producing areas in the world, (14 million acres of cultivated cropland), both of which are multi-billion dollars industries. The highest total value crops in the region are wheat, corn, ensilage, hay, sorghum and cotton. The position will focus on the various aspects of agricultural economics including but not limited to management, marketing, finance, policy, trade, and retail sales and will provide support to the current academic track to increase the enrollment at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. WTAMU is a four-year academic institution with more than 9,000 students including more than 1,150 students in the department granting Bachelor, Master of Science, Master of Agriculture, and Doctoral degrees. Sul Ross State University Alpine Campus is in the Scenic Davis Mountains of West Texas, is a member of the Texas State University System, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees, and has an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students of campus in Alpine, Texas. Job Title Assistant Professor of Political Science Position Number 997853 Department Political Science & Philosophy Salary $53,500 Remote No Job Summary/Description The Department of Political Science and Philosophy at Angelo State University is seeking a new colleague starting Fall 2026 to assist in its core mission of preparing its majors for excellence and leadership in their communities and careers and of instilling and promoting civic education in the larger ASU student body.
Considering the responsibility public institutions of higher education have to prepare students for responsible citizenship in a free society, the Department has been charged with teaching core courses in Texas Government and Federal Government. These courses represent a majority of the teaching workload for faculty in our department and require a thorough familiarity with the principles of liberty and free, republican government underlying the Constitutions of Texas and of the United States.
Our new colleague must be prepared to contribute to the major in Political Science by teaching Introduction to Political Science and upper division courses in International Relations and Comparative Politics. A variety of research areas will be considered, but we are looking for emphases on the activity of major states, such as China, Russia, etc. Also important to this position is the ability to cultivate our students for careers in diplomacy, national security, and foreign policy.
Our major in Political Science is undergoing a period of enrollment growth, and we are proposing to build on that growth with a number of interdisciplinary programs/curricular initiatives, such as, new minors and certificates in PPE (Politics, Philosophy, and Economics), Civic Education and Leadership, and Constitutional and Legal Studies. Ability to contribute to these efforts will be considered a plus factor.

Typical Duties/Job Duties
Faculty at Angelo State teach a 4-4 load and are expected to maintain an active research agenda and engage in service to the university. Preferred Primary Responsibilities
Teach 12 semester credit hours per semester. Courses can include, but not be limited to, General Botany, General Zoology, Biology for Majors I and II, Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology and other freshman and sophomore level biology courses. Delivery of courses will be through face to face as well as distance delivery.

These part-time Adjunct Faculty positions are designed to support our growing student enrollment for the 2025-2026 Academic Year at our Fort Worth campus. Successful candidates may teach up to six (6) semester credit hours in their respective disciplines, delivering instruction in person, through approved instructional modalities, or as necessitated by student demand. Additionally, they will be expected to hold office hours and provide necessary support to students. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
100% Teaching:
Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, seminars, and/or laboratory offerings to undergraduate and/or graduate students, which may include general education core curriculum.
Develop course syllabi, select instructional materials, and design assessments such as exams, quizzes, papers, etc.
Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and evaluate student learning outcomes to inform teaching practices and curriculum improvements.
Engage students in active learning, foster critical thinking skills, and provide opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
Provide academic support and guidance to students through office hours, feedback on assignments, and mentoring.
Adhere to university policies, academic integrity standards, and accreditation requirements related to teaching responsibilities.
Incorporate innovative teaching methods, technologies, and pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning and engagement.

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary appointments, assigned per semester and on an as-needed basis.
These temporary appointments are for the Academic Year 2025-2026 sub-terms.
Required Qualifications:
Earned masters degree in Chemistry or a closely related field from an accredited university with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Earned doctorate/terminal degree in Chemistry or a closely related field from an accredited university with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
Previous online teaching experience at the collegiate level.
