This position combines general accounting duties and payroll responsibilities, including support for processing payroll for salaried and hourly employees. The Staff Accountant will collaborate with the Accounting Manager, Manager of Administration, and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial records. Key Responsibilities
* Assist with preparation and recording of monthly journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information
* Work with the Accounting Manager to execute monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
* Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts
* Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and other issues to bring to management's attention
* Assist with the preparation of accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with the established month-end close schedule
* Assist in calculation and filing of sales tax for multiple states
* Support internal and external audit processes
* Help maintain control over the fixed asset system by ensuring that all asset additions, disposals, and transfers are processed on time and are reconciled to the general ledger
* Review job costing analysis reports to assist in commission calculation and reviews
* Assist in payroll processing to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll for salaried and hourly employees
* Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
Requirements and Technical Skills
* Bachelor's degree in accounting required
* 2+ years of relevant work experience
* Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
* Advanced MS Excel skills (including VLOOKUP and pivot tables)
