The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant III, who will serve as a generalist as part of the OCME finance operation. Under the direction of the Director of Finance, the incumbent is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of requests for goods, services, and payments using the Massachusetts Management Accounting and Reporting System (MMARS) and COMMBUYS electronic marketplace, as mandated to and by the agency. While adhering to Commonwealth and Agency policies and procedures when processing purchases and vendor payments for goods and services, duties include, but are not limited to:
* Processing and monitoring requests for goods, services, and payment to meet the agency's specific goals and objectives.
* Reviewing documents such as requisitions, invoices, packing slips, etc., for accuracy and completeness prior to processing.
* Resolving discrepancies and vendor payment inquiries using MMARS research, reports, and discussion with internal and external customers as appropriate.
* Conferring with agency personnel and vendors through oral, written, and electronic communication to resolve accounting discrepancies.
* Facilitating the vendor payment process to comply with the Commonwealth's Bill Paying, Late Payment, and Prompt Pay Discount Policies.
* Receiving requests for refunds and processing returns to funeral homes for double payment.
* Performing other tasks in MMARS and COMMBUYS as necessary as a part of OCME's purchasing and accounts payable/receivable operation.

This role in our Alternative Investments practice assists in providing tax compliance & consulting services to our Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and Real Estate clients.
Tax Compliance
Ensures both that (a) clients comply with all applicable authorities, while at the same time minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, and (b) self and client service teams comply with all Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (“TQM”).
Applies understanding of client's unique set of circumstances, documentation, and/or other requirements mandated by law and prepares required filings (tax returns) using a system of review and documentation to ensure that the client is in full compliance, while keeping the client's tax and reporting burden's as low as possible;
Ensures all data needed to comply with filing requirements are collected; identifies and properly communicates missing items to prepare return;
