Manage full-cycle accounting for commercial real estate properties as assigned
Reconcile and comprehend all balance sheet accounts and produce monthly financial statements with supplementary reporting as required
Utilize budgets and other tools to analyze variances and reconcile payments applied against major contract values
Ensure all legislated taxes and assessments are reconciled and remitted
Monitor cash positions and anticipate future cash deficiencies
Monthly bank reconciliations including follow up and correction of outstanding items
Monitor and review monthly receivables for accuracy, adjustments, and/or corrections
Supply tenant analysis and statements of account as required
Monitor and review accounts payable coding for accuracy
Calculate and analyze year end operating cost adjustments (Op. Ex. or CAM) and tenant billings for assigned properties
Review account records such as credit memos and cash receipts to ensure accurate accounts
Prepare monthly non reoccurring tenant billings including utility sub metering for property manager's review and approval
Prepare monthly accruals for property manager's review and approval
Assist property manager with monthly reporting, to include revenue variance explanations and overall review before submission to General Manager
Security deposit and Letter of Credit monitoring, assessing tiered refunds with property manager's review
Lease Administration, implementation of lease data into MRI Real Estate Software
Calculate and post Percentage Rent, as needed
Consolidate monthly reporting package for submission to ownership
Interact and facilitate, on a group and individual basis, the business activities of accounting, as well as external clients such as tenants, investors, vendors, affiliates, and other intermediaries as requested
Develop and review property reports, documentation, presentations, email communication and all other correspondence.
Ensure that all financial reporting is in accordance with Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Perform financial analysis, modeling, and budgeting activities
Account, book, and reconcile the general ledger as appropriate.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited university is required, CPA preferred
5-7+ years of experience commercial real estate or REIT accounting is required
Advanced experience and familiarity with MRI Real Estate Software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) are required

The position of Senior Income Tax Accountant will be based out of our Dallas, TX location!
Summary
The Senior Income Tax Accountant is responsible for US federal and multistate income tax compliance and financial reporting of income taxes under IFRS. Core responsibilities are to ensure the accuracy and quality of income tax reporting for external purposes, effectively utilize both internal and external resources to prepare and ensure the company timely files its income tax returns, and that the income tax accounts are reasonable and accurate.
What You'll Do
* Ensure the US federal and state income tax returns, Forms 8300, the FinCen 114 report, Forms 1042 and other necessary forms are timely prepared, supported, and filed, with effective utilization of both internal personnel, as well as external co-sourcing providers
* Ensure the timely calculation and payment of estimated income taxes to minimize penalty exposure, as well as all other tax payments due with required income tax filings
* Ensure the tax calendar is maintained so that the Company is in compliance with all income tax filing deadlines
* Assist with preparation of the IFRS consolidated income tax provision, including ETR analysis, current and deferred taxes, substantiation for all deferred tax positions, income tax payable proof and variance analysis for all annual income tax provisions
* Ensure the financial statement income tax accounts are maintained, including proper record keeping, calculation of monthly tax provisions and maintenance of income tax accounting records for the Company and its US subsidiaries
* Assist with preparation of the Company's tax provision and related footnote disclosures required for statutory audited financial statements
* Assist with responses to all income tax correspondence received from taxing authorities and that all tax assessments are appropriate, and challenge or protest such assessments as necessary
* Provide assistance with all governmental income tax audits, including the gathering of information requested and where appropriate assist in the defense of income tax positions taken by the Company
* Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the income tax discipline within the scope of the Tax department budget, including utilization of external consultants
* Propose process improvements to simplify complex processes and procedures, including with the use of technology
* Work with cross-functional teams, including Accounting, Treasury, Finance, Legal, HR, Real Estate, and Indirect Tax

* Works with tax software applications to complete simple tax returns for review
* Performs quarterly estimates and prepares extensions
* Assists with responses to notices from the Internal Revenue Service
* Assists in the projection of year-end filings
* ASC 740-10 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals
* Correctly and proactively applies Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (TQM) regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48
* Assists with components of income tax provisions
* Tax Consulting
* Assists with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients' current and future taxes
* Operates online research tools to gather pertinent tax information
* Monitors tax law and client factual developments on a regular basis, daily or weekly but at least bi-weekly
* Develops and communicates to client service team personnel, viewpoints regarding how those developments might affect clients
* Other duties as required
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
* Enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or other relevant field required
* Pursuing a masters degree in Accounting or other relevant field preferred
Experience:
* Leadership experience preferred
License/Certifications:
* Actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA
Software:
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* Strong written and verbal communication skills

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

As an Intern in our Tax service line, you will be responsible for the following:Prepare federal and multi-state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts and its related income tax work papers Complete a variety of projects within engagement timeline and budget guidelines Learn and effectively utilize firm tax preparation software to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance the quality of service to clients Perform self-review of work Perform tax technical research assigned by supervisors Develop strong relationships with firm professionals Participate in firm training and activities Work with your buddy and performance manager on professional development of both technical and soft skills.
