Primary Duties

6. Assists with the preparation and filing of occupational license applications and payments in a timely and accurate manner. Tracks licenses received and maintains current records of licenses.
7. Assists with the property tax return data compilation process and pays ad valorem tax bills, as needed.
8. Prepares tax work papers, schedules, exhibits and summaries necessary to develop and support findings and/or recommendations.
9. Assists in the testing and maintenance of taxaccounting systems.
10. Reviews and analyzes a variety of tax and accounting documents and verifies the accuracy of computations.
11. Communicates with internal and external personnel regarding taxes and other matters.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Educational/Experience Level

Partner with the Stock Administration Teams, Cash Comp Teams and Overseas Offices to determine multi-country sourcing and global income tax and Social Security withholding requirements on:
Manage Stock Awards (RSUs)
Process & Mid-Year Deferred compensation payments
Process & Mid-Year Cash bonus payments
Handle Term/Severance payments, Stock Options and other Executive Comp payments
Advise our clients on the tax implications of particular assignments, including multi-country taxation of transfer-year bonuses, equity and other deferred compensation
Coordinate with external tax service provider on annual tax return preparation authorizations and related services
Review of payroll tax compliance and coordination with multiple payrolls
Review of Global Mobility compensation reports and Form W-2 to ensure proper payroll reporting, particularly with respect to research and resolution of any differences
Coordinate with tax service provider(s) on income tax gross ups, estimated tax payments, and tax advance payments
Support in proactively managing the firm-wide regulatory and control agenda
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
College/University degree
Strong Excel, Alteryx, data analytics and data integrity analysis skills
Understanding of equity sourcing and tax instructions, payroll withholding requirements, US tax settlement calculations and global expatriate tax implications

This role requires candidates to be available to work 40 hours a week Monday through Friday from early January through Mid-April. In-office days are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
As an Intern in our Tax service line, you will be responsible for the following:
Prepare federal and multi-state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts and its related income tax work papers
Complete a variety of projects within engagement timeline and budget guidelines
Learn and effectively utilize firm tax preparation software to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance the quality of service to clients
Perform self-review of work
Perform tax technical research assigned by supervisors
Develop strong relationships with firm professionals
Participate in firm training and activities
Work with your buddy and performance manager on professional development of both technical and soft skills.
To be successful, these are the skills, qualities and experience you will need:
On track to completing a bachelor's degree in accounting or a master's degree in accounting or taxation between May 2027 - June 2028
Available to work 40 hours a week Monday through Friday from early January through Mid-April
In-office days are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
Minimum overall and accounting GPAs of 3.0
Active membership in Beta Alpha Psi or another campus accounting or related organization is a plus
Strong technical aptitude and demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
Exhibit leadership skills that demonstrate strong judgement, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Able to learn in a fast paced environment and receptive to feedback and coaching
Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and take initiative on projects

Primary Duties
1. Processes customer tax exemption requests, including required revenue system maintenance. Seeks guidance on complex scenarios or escalated situations. Maintains exemption certificate files and assists with routine internal audit of records.
2. Assists with maintenance of tax jurisdiction codes in the revenue system to ensure proper collection of sales tax and franchise fees.
3. Processes customer-initiated sales tax credit requests related to sales tax exemption and/or tax jurisdiction reassignment. Seeks guidance on complex scenarios or escalated situations. Communicates the appropriate tax types to be adjusted within the applicable statute-limited time period to Revenue Management for calculating and processing.
4. Prepares W-9 forms for Atmos vendors as requested.
5. Assists with the preparation of sales/use tax returns, franchise fee reports, journal entries, and other miscellaneous state and local tax returns in a timely and accurate manner.
6. Assists with the preparation and filing of occupational license applications and payments in a timely and accurate manner. Tracks licenses received and maintains current records of licenses.
7. Assists with the property tax return data compilation process and pays ad valorem tax bills, as needed.
8. Prepares tax work papers, schedules, exhibits and summaries necessary to develop and support findings and/or recommendations.
9. Assists in the testing and maintenance of taxaccounting systems.
10. Reviews and analyzes a variety of tax and accounting documents and verifies the accuracy of computations.
11. Communicates with internal and external personnel regarding taxes and other matters.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Educational/Experience Level
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Taxation or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience in customer service/revenue applications maintenance, accounting, taxation or related field.
Communication Skills
Requires the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers both written and verbally in order to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information.
Numeric Skills
Requires the ability to perform analyses involving ratios, percentages and simple statistical methods.
Computer Skills
Requires advanced knowledge of various business computer applications in order to create complex documents, reports or graphics. Proficiency in utilizing the customer information system is recommended.
Work Conditions
Works in an office environment. Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.

Tax Methodology
Applies general understanding of knowledge and application of standards to effectively and efficiently deliver quality tax services
Tax Compliance
Ensures both that (a) clients comply with all applicable authorities, while at the same time minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, and (b) self and client service teams comply with all Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (“TQM”)
Participates in the preparation, filing and completion of voluntary disclosure agreements for sales and use tax, income tax and unclaimed property
Drafts tax memoranda, and other documents on various tax issues
Assists in drafting responses to notices from state taxing authorities
Prepares models for tax and unclaimed property exposure analysis
Participates in the audit defense of client returns and tax positions
Ensures all data needed to comply with filing requirements is obtained and identifies missing items needed to prepare assigned tax returns
Monitors current tax law changes and applies appropriately to the preparation of assigned tax returns
Manages collection and retention of all appropriate workpapers for assigned clients
Research
Completes basic research on federal and state tax issues
Tax Consulting
Partners with experienced SALT tax professionals to learn the basics of state tax planning
Participates in client meetings with experienced tax professionals, as appropriate
Establishes relationships with Core Tax Services and other Specialized Tax Services client service professionals
Tax Specialization
Develops an in-depth understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding one or more areas of taxation
Strategy Development
Assists in the preparation of tax presentations for client meetings
Tax-Related Software
Utilizes Caseware, Go Systems, and other tax-related software in the completion of basic tax returns with appropriate supervision, as applicable
