About the Role
The Staff Accountant is a key member of our Homestay & Dormitory Program, working directly with our Company Controller (CPA). This role involves a blend of daily accounting tasks, financial analysis, and support for strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Calculate and process monthly/ad-hoc ACH stipend payments to host families.
Support annual financial audits and tax preparation alongside the Controller.
Maintain daily bookkeeping and general ledger in QuickBooks.
Perform account reconciliations and manage company checkbooks.
Handle Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP).
Provide financial analysis for new company initiatives, acquisitions, or property projects.
Review, edit, and manage contracts through Adobe Sign.
Complete additional accounting assignments as directed by the Controller.
Qualifications
Experience: 1-3 years required (3+ years a plus).
Education: BS/BA in Accounting or Finance preferred.
Technical Skills:
Intermediate to advanced QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Professional Skills:
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and multi-tasking ability.
Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Professional phone presence and customer service mindset.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Persistent, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven.
Other Requirements:
Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) on-site at our Derby, CT headquarters.
Flexibility to work overtime on weekdays when needed.
English fluency (reading, writing, speaking) required; Mandarin Chinese proficiency is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits:
Base Salary: $55,000- $65,000 per year (DOE)
