Full charge accounting for 7 commercial real estate properties with approximately 50 tenants, a non-profit foundation and other Ownership LLCs. Other duties include basic office management, supply inventory, track employee payroll, vacation, sick-time and insurance, etc.
Job Duties include but are not limited to:
Support Owner and property managers with day-to-day property (Yardi Breeze) and foundation (QuickBooks) accounting
Coordinate and work with outside CPA related to property sales & the associated accounting.
Perform professional bookkeeping work in Yardi Breeze and QuickBooks and generally accepted principles of accounting (GAAP)
Process daily cash receipts
Accounts Payable, including invoice entry and tracking payment processing

What You'll Do
• Support the Tax team with day-to-day operations and assist with ongoing departmental projects.
• Collaborate with our tax and accounting teams to support core compliance activities, including:

- Helping to set up tax depreciation within our accounting system (Yardi) by reviewing asset information and applying the appropriate tax methods.

• Through these responsibilities, the intern will gain practical exposure to tax compliance and reporting, including:
- A foundational understanding of tax filings and how supporting documentation is organized.
- Experience working with large sets of backup data and preparing audit-ready schedules.
- Insight into lease agreements and how related timing differences appear in book-tax schedules, including concepts relevant to tax reporting frameworks such as ASC 740.
• The intern will primarily work with Excel, our accounting system (Yardi), and the FTB website for the CA 568 filing process.

• Participate in team meetings and contribute creative ideas to enhance department goals.
• Complete a final Summer Showcase presentation outlining what you've learned and worked on during your internship and present to fellow interns and team members.

As an Intern in our Tax service line, you will be responsible for the following:
* Prepare federal and multi-state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts and its related income tax work papers
* Complete a variety of projects within engagement timeline and budget guidelines
* Learn and effectively utilize firm tax preparation software to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance the quality of service to clients
* Perform self-review of work
* Perform tax technical research assigned by supervisors
* Develop strong relationships with firm professionals
* Participate in firm training and activities
* Work with your buddy and performance manager on professional development of both technical and soft skills.
To be successful, these are the skills, qualities and experience you will need:
* On track to completing a bachelor's degree in accounting or a master's degree in accounting or taxation between December 2027 - July 2028
* Available to work 40 hours a week from Mid-June through Mid-August
* Minimum overall and accounting GPAs of 3.0
* Active membership in Beta Alpha Psi or another campus accounting organization
* Strong technical aptitude and demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
* Exhibit leadership skills that demonstrate strong judgement, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
* Able to learn in a fast paced environment and receptive to feedback and coaching
* Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and take initiative on projects
* High attention to detail
* A positive attitude and is a team player mentality with a can-do spirit

This salary range is specific to the state(s) listed and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill set and education; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable salary estimate for this position is $38.00 per hour and it is eligible for a one-time program completion bonus.
