Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance
Prepare and file sales, use, and property tax returns in accordance with statutory deadlines.
Process a high volume of property tax bills-approximately 3,000 annually across multiple jurisdictions.
Prepare property tax renditions and complete supporting workpapers.
Ensure timely and accurate tax payments.
Data Management & Analysis
Gather, validate, and reconcile tax-related data from systems such as Excel, SAP, Avalara, and PowerPlan.
Create and maintain documentation that supports filings, audits, and account reconciliations.
Perform variance analysis and provide clear explanations for review and approval.
Audit Support
Assist with sales and use tax audits, including invoice pulls, taxability research, and preparing responses to auditor requests.
Apply state tax rules, regulations, and technical amendments to ensure compliance.
Accounting & Reporting
Reconcile general ledger accounts tied to sales, use, and property taxes.
Support property and sales/use tax forecasting in alignment with GAAP, regulatory, and internal control requirements, including SOX.
Research & Special Projects
Conduct taxability reviews on transactions and apply appropriate statutory guidance.
Participate in process-improvement initiatives and assist with planning and research assignments as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, MIS, Data Science, or related field (flexible for contractors).
4-6 years of experience in tax compliance or a related accounting role.
Strong Excel skills required; experience with Avalara, SAP, or PowerPlan preferred.
Experience in high-volume processing environments; utility, telecom, or railroad industry experience a plus.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
Prior experience supporting sales and use tax audits strongly preferred.

As a Payroll Tax Analyst, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all payroll tax regulations and requirements for both US and Canada (USAC). Here, you will make an impact by:
Tax Compliance: Ensuring that USAC complies with federal, state, provincial, and local payroll tax regulations by utilizing a third-party vendor to manage all tax preparations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, including the preparation of year-end tax statements.

Collaboration: Working closely with HR, Finance, and IT departments to ensure seamless payroll processing and integration of payroll tax data (including stock integrations).
Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audits related to payroll taxes. Provide necessary documentation and respond to inquiries from auditors and tax authorities.
System Maintenance: Supporting the maintenance and enhancement of payroll systems to improve efficiency and accuracy in payroll tax processing.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university and a minimum of two (2) years' experience in Payroll, Human Resources, and/or Finance in a private, public, government or military environment.
OR
High School degree/GED (completed and verified prior to start) and a minimum of six (6) years' experience in Payroll, Human Resources, and/or Finance in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.

Serve as a subject matter expert for more complex payroll tax issues and lead the research and resolution of discrepancies and escalations in partnership with outside vendors. Maintain working knowledge of changes with legislation and impacts in taxation and reporting. Lead the responses to tax escalations and work payroll specialists and the call center. Responsible for reviewing employee tax data for accuracy.
Responsibilities
Assist in reconciling payroll and tax reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies as needed.
Assist with the processing of tax payments that are outside of the vendor's responsibility.
Ensure all balancing is done in compliance with SOX controls and serve as an escalation point for G&L account reconciliation issues. Partner with Finance to research open items and recommend corrections.
Lead the auditing of employee data and the processes to correct tax set ups. Partner with the HR Systems team to determine appropriate actions when system issues impact taxation or employee records are incorrect. Manage State Tax Mobility processing by communicating directly with employees to ensure appropriate multi-state set-ups and contributing to the annual state mobility processing events. Provide direction to India-based Payroll Specialists on taxation issues and lead the implementation of process changes as needed to comply with payroll tax laws.
Determine appropriate actions when legislative changes occur. Collaborate with third-party administrator (ADP) and jurisdictions when complex issues occur and require more in-depth research to respond to notices of inconsistencies. Lead the processing of corrections to wage and tax information based on system audits and applicable tax rules.
Play a key role in the annual payroll year-end process and other key projects impacting payroll.
Remain current on industry changes and understand how Ameriprise plans, practices, and policies are impacted. Provide consulting to specific plan owners to ensure taxation and reporting requirements are understood and meet the requirements. Determine impacts and works with appropriate groups to update systems and processes as appropriate.
Required Qualifications

Base Pay Salary
The estimated base salary for this role is $54,400- $74,800/year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Position Objective

Primary Responsibilities

Customer service minded, and have experience working in some form of a customer service role

The Tax Associate is an exempt client support position providing administrative, tax compliance, and fiduciary support. The Tax Associate's primary responsibility is to coordinate and participate in client services within a team concept.
This Tax Associate position will work in our Minnesota office
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates tax services for clients as part of a team model
Analyzes and resolves basic client issues using sound judgment based on experience
Updates client files and records as appropriate
Prepares quarterly and annual tax income reports and provisions
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accountancy from an accredited university
Master's degree in Tax preferred
1-3 years current public accounting experience including individual and trust taxation
Actively working towards CPA certification
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local income tax laws
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, CRM and tax preparation and research software.
