Job Summary:
The Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing individual and business tax returns and providing support to senior accountants, supervisors, managers and principals, which includes assisting with tax planning, reviewing, and understanding financial statements, small business accounting, and researching technical tax issues. This position will need understand and effectively use current tax and accounting software applications and apply independent thought processes when working on special projects. A person in this role will need to prioritize their workflow to meet multiple deadlines. This person is expected to work efficiently and adapt to changes in schedules and work hours.

Requirements
Qualifications Required for the Tax Accountant role:
Associate degree in Accounting or related field.
One year of similar accounting experience or administrative support experience in a financial organization.
Strong technical, analytical and organizational skills.
Proficient in Excel and Word.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High level of prioritization and exceptional attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
BA/BS in Accounting/Finance or related field.
Previously worked in a CPA firm.
Experience with ProSystems Tax Preparation software and QuickBooks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
The staff account performs day-to-day accounting and payroll activities for Mayo Civic Center's food and beverage and facility operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following.
Performs day-to-day accounting activities so that general ledger, trial balance, and key account reconciliations are adequately prepared and monitored.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
The Senior Accountant, Operations Accounting will support NextDecade's commercial and operational activities by ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with U.S. GAAP, and effective accounting processes across LNG inventory, logistics, and cost of goods sold. This role will be instrumental in designing and implementing accounting workflows and systems-including ETRM, Marine Freight, and Inventory Reporting-while maintaining the integrity of accounting records for fixed assets, leases, and other operational transactions. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job Description
The Sr. Staff / Cost Accountant is responsible for the overall accuracy of inventory valuation and Cost of Goods Sold within their area of responsibility. As a key member of the Supply Chain Finance team, this position will serve as a Business Finance Partner to Manufacturing, Materials, Engineering and Product Creation. In addition to Supply Chain Partnerships, this position will also interface with Corporate Accounting to ensure financial and business processes and controls are performing as designed.
This position requires employees to be on-site at our Red Wing, MN facility Monday through Thursday and will be remote on Fridays.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead standard cost activities to support the Annual Cost Roll, New Product Costing and Engineering Change Request (ECR) changes. Prepare accurate product costs based on Bill of material (BOM) structure as needed.
Partner with Product Creation and Manufacturing (if applicable) to streamline and improve the costing process, including RFP Development, to ensure timely completion.
Perform complex reconciliations, research and root cause analysis of transaction differences and errors in a timely manner through data mining, detail analysis and research. Prepare and process correcting journal entries to ensure all inventory / financial transactions are properly recorded.
Perform daily and month end close activities including variance analysis and financial review. Prepare timely, complete and accurate balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with accounting policies and US GAAP.
Support the Month-end close timelines and communicate issues. Report actual results and communicate key business metrics while providing insightful variance analysis to various Stakeholders.
Lead the verification and reconciliation analysis related to annual Physical Inventories.
Actively participate on Lean Project Teams; review process flows and present collaborative improvement recommendations while also developing tracking mechanisms to ensure Accountability.
Assist with the annual financial audit, ensuring audit support schedules are prepared and deliverables are provided timely.
Partner with Manufacturing leaders to drive productivity while assisting, and in some cases leading, with the tracking and analysis of specific Productivity Metrics across several MFG Facilities (ex. Efficiency).
Participate and/or lead cross-functionally within manufacturing, distribution, retail and other finance departments on projects to streamline processes and improve internal controls and compliance. Partner to understand business initiatives and their respective impact to accounting and controls.
Assist with special projects and accounting research as needed.
Support business performance management initiatives.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) required, preferably in finance, accounting or a related field from an accredited College or University

Key Responsibilities of Senior Tax Accountant:
Prepares and leads preparation of individual and business tax returns.
Completes initial review and prepares complex tax returns.
Provides leadership and training for staff and entry level accountants and seasonal interns.
Assists with tax planning and leads specific assigned projects.
Prepares/reviews compiled financial statements.
Works in team environment with principals, managers and staff.
Understands and effectively uses current tax and accounting software applications when completing engagements.
Handles sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Starts to identify areas of specialization.
Researches technical tax issues.
Engages in learning about the Firm's business development efforts.
Professionally represents the Firm at assigned business and community functions.
Participates in industry niches.
Participates in professional, charitable, and/or civic organizations.
Requirements
The Senior Accountant should have the following education and experience:
Associates degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
Two years of experience in tax planning and preparation, tax related projects.
Strong technical, analytical and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High level of organization, focus, exceptional attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
3 years of experience in tax planning, preparation, and tax related projects.
Experience with ProSystems tax preparation software, QuickBooks, and CCH Engagement.
Customer-service oriented, demonstrated by the following attributes: proactive, observant, knowledgeable and reliable.
CPA exam passed or on track to complete.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds, stand or sit for extended periods of time, as well as type/enter data at a keyboard regularly.

Pay Range Information
The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.
