As a Staff Accountant, this individual, will perform various functions to meet internal and external customer expectations including timely and accurate closing of the accounting periods, financial and managerial reporting, budget preparation, supplier and customer net margin review and reporting, inventory control accounting, and other projects as required.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Works with Business Development to enhance the accuracy of supplier margins reported in detail and in total in the income statement. (internal and external customer, analysis as needed)
Assists in preparing annual budgets.
Works with the inventory control team to understand inventory loss/gain results and to establish procedures that minimize the unknown.
Works with the Accounting Manager to establish goals and procedures that promote accuracy and consistency of financial results.
Represents the accounting team on new company initiatives.
Applies lean thinking and tools to identify and eliminate waste in all areas of the position.
YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Access.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to meet established deadlines/goal dates.

Responsibilities:
Shareholder Relationship:
· Develop and nurture relationships with the family shareholder group, being the trusted advisor to our shareholders.
· Establish meaningful rapport, gaining the shareholders' confidence by obtaining intimate knowledge of their lives and objectives to anticipate and respond to their various needs, both individually and through collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders.
Tax Planning:
· Oversee the income and estate tax planning for all family members and related entities including the development of long-term tax strategies.

· Continuously monitor tax rules and regulations and proactively identify potential issues and planning opportunities
· Advise on philanthropic giving strategies to optimize tax benefits and align with long-term family objectives
Trust Returns:
· Manage compliance ensuring timely completion of federal and state income tax returns, timely review and approval of returns, payment and filing as re-quired.
· Manage compliance for state and local taxes ensuring timely completion, re-view, approval, payment and filing as required
· Prepare initial draft trust returns using K-1's provided by external tax provider, 75+ trust returns per year due by October 15th.
Corporate Function:
· Develop a tax calendar and monitoring process for all taxes ensuring timely submission and filing of extensions as applicable.
· Prepare internal memorandum, external written correspondence, and other documents to IRS and various state and local tax authorities as well as IDEAL leadership.
· Track and interpret relevant legislative developments, providing timely insights and strategic recommendations to internal teams
Shareholder Payments:
· Oversee quarterly cash payments for Tax and Equity distributions, both calculating and collaborating with external partners to execute payments to trusts and shareholders.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
· CPA preferred
· 7+ years of experience in trust and estate accounting and finance with focus on family preferred
· Extensive and proven experience in tax services in high net worth and trusts
· Ability to communicate complexity in a simplified manner while maintaining the integrity of the underlying tax principles

Your Responsibilities:
* Assist in the month-end close and prepare monthly journal entries and schedules.
* Create and maintain account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial statements by required deadlines.

Due to the nature of the work, this role will require you to work in person, so you will need to have reliable transportation.
This is a seasonal role, beginning in January ending in April
Part-time hours are expected, working Monday-Saturday, between the hours of 8:00AM - 5:00PM.
The Tax Intern position typically requires the following qualifications:
High school diploma
and
be currently enrolled in college program
Preferably pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, financial planning, accounting, business or economics related field.
Students that are currently enrolled in a CPA track program and that are in their Junior /Senior year will be prioritized upon application review.
All applicants must be within driving distance to our St. Charles, IL office, as this position requires in-person support.

We take a market-based approach to compensation. The expected hourly range for this role nationally is $18 - $22/hour. However, final base pay will be carefully determined based on several factors, including responsibilities, skills, relevant experience, geographic location, and market conditions.
