About the Job

Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
Provide accurate, timely tax advice to project teams on transaction tax rules procedures at the city, county/parish, and state levels.

Mentor, train and lead junior and other finance team members and business partners on indirect tax processes, workflows, and best practices.
Identify process inefficiencies and implement solutions to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Indirect Tax Compliance, Oversight, and Audit Defense:
Manage and ensure accurate and timely filing and payment of monthly, quarterly and annual U.S. sales and use tax, Trinidad VAT, and Canadian GST returns.
Monitor legislative changes and ensure compliance with relevant tax laws in applicable jurisdictions.
Maintain and review tax rates, rules, and logic within the ERP system and tax engines (e.g., Oracle, Avalara).
Draft and communicate guidance on tax regulations and legislative changes.
Provide audit support and manage documentation for internal and external tax audits.
Assess risk and implement controls to mitigate transaction tax exposure.
Tax Accounting & Reconciliation:
Perform monthly account reconciliations for indirect tax accounts across all entities.
Investigate and resolve variances, ensuring accurate balance and reporting, and compliance with internal control policies.
System & Process Implementation:
Lead and support the implementation of and enhancement of tax processes within an Oracle-based ERP.
Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate tax solutions into finance, procurement, and billing workflows.

As an Intern in our Tax service line, you will be responsible for the following:
* Prepare federal and multi-state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts and its related income tax work papers
* Complete a variety of projects within engagement timeline and budget guidelines
* Learn and effectively utilize firm tax preparation software to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance the quality of service to clients
* Perform self-review of work
* Perform tax technical research assigned by supervisors
* Develop strong relationships with firm professionals
* Participate in firm training and activities
* Work with your buddy and performance manager on professional development of both technical and soft skills.
To be successful, these are the skills, qualities and experience you will need:
* On track to completing a bachelor's degree in accounting or a master's degree in accounting or taxation between December 2027 - July 2028
* Available to work 40 hours a week from Mid-June through Mid-August
* Minimum overall and accounting GPAs of 3.0
* Active membership in Beta Alpha Psi or another campus accounting organization
* Strong technical aptitude and demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
* Exhibit leadership skills that demonstrate strong judgement, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
* Able to learn in a fast paced environment and receptive to feedback and coaching
* Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and take initiative on projects
* High attention to detail
* A positive attitude and is a team player mentality with a can-do spirit

This salary range is specific to the state(s) listed and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill set and education; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable salary estimate for this position is $38.00 per hour and it is eligible for a one-time program completion bonus.
