Cost Accountant
Tax associate job in Parma, OH
LHH is working with our client a manufacturing company in their search for a contract Cost Accountant to take ownership of its cost accounting process. This position will sit onsite in on the east side of Cleveland, OH and will focus on establishing procedures, implementing systems, and creating structure for accurate costing across a large inventory base. You'll have guidance from leadership but will be expected to build the framework and drive improvements independently.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead
Review overhead rates and ensure accurate cost allocation
Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances; prepare monthly reports
Lead process improvements for inventory accuracy and internal controls
Partner with engineering, procurement, and operations to identify cost-saving opportunities
Provide financial analysis for new products, process changes, and strategic decisions
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
At least 4 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation
Advanced Excel skills
Ability to work independently and take initiative

The Tax Department is responsible for both direct and indirect tax compliance of multiple entities including but not limited to, income tax, sales & use tax, property taxes, account reconciliations and multiple business licensing. Additionally, the group is responsible for doing research to ensure we are following all jurisdictional laws and regulations, and to look for any potential tax savings. This position is primarily responsible for assisting other indirect Seniors with various indirect tasks, including but not limited to sales tax reporting, sales tax compliance, property tax reporting, and property tax compliance. This position will work between the different entities and will need to be flexible regarding job assignments.

* Serve as a liaison between operational users and DLA DAI PMO, translating functional requirements into technical solutions.
* Support either Accounts Payable or General Ledger Financial Reporting.
* Provide Accounts Payable expertise in Transactions by Others (TBOs), Transactions For Others (TFOs), and Transactions For Self (TFS).
* Ensure compliance with DFARS and other regulations governing government payments.
* Provide General Ledger Financial Reporting expertise in Department of War (DoW) Transaction Library, transaction codes, USSGL postings, tie points, and other federal financial reporting requirements.

This position has a positive education requirement. To qualify for this position you must meet one of the basic requirements described below:(1) Completion of all requirements for a bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.

(2) Candidates may also qualify through a combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge AND 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing courses, which may include up to 6 hours of business law, OR a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor.
