Our Financial Services EY EDGE practice is made up of a team of professionals providing dedicated tax technical services to both US and global clients. EY's FSO EDGE State and Local Tax practice provides comprehensive and specialized tax assistance tailored to the unique needs of our clients. You will work alongside our practice office professionals who are knowledgeable and experienced in a wide range of tax areas, processes, and compliance.
**Your Key Responsibilities**
A Senior Analyst in FSO EDGE State & Local Tax will be responsible for delivering tax compliance and consulting work for clients. The objective is to recognize and identify problem areas and items that need to be addressed or escalated to ensure client needs are timely and accurately completed. You will also be working in a highly collaborative culture, along colleagues from different practices, while listing and sharing information. Other responsibilities include:
+ Analyzing an evolving portfolio of complex tax operations to provide meaningful business insights
+ Identifying potential opportunities and risks and communicating these to our clients
+ Learning and researching current market trends, to maintain your credibility as a trusted advisor
+ Developing clear, intelligent plans and approaches to improve our clients' tax activities
+ Researching our clients' business operations and building long-lasting relationships to tailor your advice to their specific needs

**Skills and Attributes for Success**
**To qualify for the role, you must have**
+ A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline or a graduate degree in Tax or Law
+ Progress towards CPA or Enrolled Agent license
+ A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in professional services or professional tax organization
+ A thorough understanding of automated tax processing systems and laws within your area of technical professionalism
+ Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and the confidence to challenge senior colleagues and stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds

The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $81,900 to $135,100. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $98,400 to $153,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.

About The RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Cost Accountant to play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing our financial operations. In this role, you will work closely with Operations, Production, and Supply Chain teams to ensure inventory accuracy, drive cost efficiency, and support strategic decision-making. You will be responsible for analyzing production costs, reconciling inventory, preparing for audits, and contributing to budgeting and forecasting processes.
This position offers the opportunity to influence key financial and operational decisions, while collaborating across multiple functions to strengthen controls and enhance profitability. You'll also help shape the evolution of our cost accounting processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with GAAP standards.What You'll Do
Collaborate with Operations on inventory management to ensure all inventory is reconciled and accurately reflected on the balance sheet for upcoming audits.
Oversee inventory valuation, reconciliation processes, and actively support Operations in resolving discrepancies.
Prepare and organize cost and inventory documentation for external auditors, supporting the financial audit process.
Partner with Operation, Production, and Supply Chain teams to drive improvements in inventory controls and cost efficiency.
Analyze production costs, including materials, labor, and overhead, and compare them to standard or budgeted costs. Investigate and explain variances to management, identifying root causes and recommending solutions.
Assist in the month-end close process related to cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory. This includes preparing and posting journal entries and conducting account reconciliations.
Play a critical role in developing the annual budget and cost forecasts. Provide cost projections and help with financial models for new products or special projects.
Generate detailed financial reports, including cost analysis, profitability reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs), to inform management decision-making.
Identify and implement improvements to existing cost accounting procedures and systems to increase accuracy and efficiency. Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to management.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting and bookkeeping.
Proficiency in accounting software, specifically Xero, NetSuite, Ramp, Airbase, Avalara, Salesforce, and others.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Must be able to work in Eastern time zone.
Able to travel to Toronto, Canada for inventory counts 3 to 4 times a year (U.S. passport is required).
Bonus Skills
CPA certification is a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in SaaS and manufacturing
Knowledge of ERP systems and financial analytics tools.
