As a Global Mobility (GM) Tax Associate, within our team, you will be responsible for managing income tax and social security compliance matters for various mobile employee personas including, but not limited to, expatriates, permanent transfers, business travelers and US Persons abroad. The individual will work alongside Global Mobility Advisors and will report to the Global Mobility US Tax Manager.
Job responsibilities
Global mobility tax subject matter expert who can respond to queries on international assignment tax policies from GM, HRBAs, business managers, vendors and employees (our clients)
Partner with the Stock Administration Teams, Cash Comp Teams and Overseas Offices to determine multi-country sourcing and global income tax and Social Security withholding requirements on:
Manage Stock Awards (RSUs)
Process & Mid-Year Deferred compensation payments
Process & Mid-Year Cash bonus payments
Handle Term/Severance payments, Stock Options and other Executive Comp payments
Advise our clients on the tax implications of particular assignments, including multi-country taxation of transfer-year bonuses, equity and other deferred compensation
Coordinate with external tax service provider on annual tax return preparation authorizations and related services
Review of payroll tax compliance and coordination with multiple payrolls
Review of Global Mobility compensation reports and Form W-2 to ensure proper payroll reporting, particularly with respect to research and resolution of any differences
Coordinate with tax service provider(s) on income tax gross ups, estimated tax payments, and tax advance payments
Support in proactively managing the firm-wide regulatory and control agenda
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
College/University degree
Strong Excel, Alteryx, data analytics and data integrity analysis skills
Understanding of equity sourcing and tax instructions, payroll withholding requirements, US tax settlement calculations and global expatriate tax implications
Self-motivated and result-oriented individual with attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure within tight deadlines
Strong organizational skills, project and change management experience
Ability to make sound business decisions and understand when to escalate issues
Solid communications skills, including experience conducting counseling sessions or other equivalent expatriate tax advice work
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
2+ years of Global Mobility tax experience, Big 4 experience preferred
