Ensure all required documents are filed correctly and securely. Keep up to date with client files and follow up on missing information. Training and Development: Participate in training sessions and continuing education to maintain professional credentials. Stay informed about changes in tax laws and software updates. Collaboration: Work closely with other tax professionals and office staff to ensure a seamless workflow. Assist in mentoring and training junior staff members as needed. Assist in marketing execution Qualifications Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Superior communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Must have PTIN or eligible to receive. Education and Experience Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; or equivalent experience. Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in tax preparation. Physical Requirements Position requires working at a desk for periods of time. Some overtime and weekend work may be required, especially during tax season. Reconcile all revenue and cost of gas balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis. Supporting regulatory team questions as required Prepare for and assist in completing annual audit including: Complete PBC schedules on a timely basis Maintain accounting in compliance with GAAP and regulatory authorities. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree in accounting required. 0 to 2 years of similar experience required. Regulated utility accounting a plus. Proficiency in the use of Excel required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and FERC Ability to maintain motivation and focus to complete tasks within required timelines.     Description & Requirements As an intern at Forvis Mazars, you will gain valuable experience that may help you decide whether you want to start your career in audit or tax, or even whether public accounting is right for you. You will work on client engagements like those assigned to our entry-level associates, gaining exposure to a variety of industries, and testing out your technical know-how. You will work alongside our senior staff and management personnel, learning from their experience as you develop your skillset. Depending on local office needs, internships are available in assurance, tax, or a combination of the two and can be part-time or full-time. Generally, winter semester internships run from early-January through April 15th, and summer internships can typically run from early-June through mid-August. How you will contribute: * Work with client personnel to reconcile account differences and analyze financial data * Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, or other tax returns * Calculate tax extension or estimate payments * Participate in client meetings alongside Forvis Mazars partners and managers We are looking for people who have Forward Vision and: * Solid technical accounting knowledge * Effective time management * Strong oral and written communication skills * Strong computer skills preferred, including Microsoft Office suite * Ability to work well with a team as well as independently * Problem-solving attitude * Willingness to take initiative * Close attention to detail * Ability to work under pressure and against deadlines. * Intern candidates must be working toward an accounting degree and CPA licensure eligibility Must have reliable transportation to and from your assigned office and be able to attend off-site meetings and events in person Applicants for positions with Forvis Mazars must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
