Taylor Corporation company history timeline

1975

Taylor Corporation began in 1975 with Carlson Craft as its first holding.

1985

1985: Company revenues reach $200 million, up from $6 million a decade earlier.

1987

According to a 1987 Corporate Report Minnesota article, Taylor Corporation was the country's largest printer of wedding stationery, producing invitations, response and reception cards, thanks you notes, and church programs.

1989

In 1989, Carlson Craft started to diversify, expanding their product lines to serve not only the wedding market, but also the custom-printing needs of businesses in general.

The fourth entity, Label Works, manufactures custom-printed, pressure-sensitive labels and has been in operation since 1989.

Taylor left the Senate in 1989 and set aside thoughts of running for governor. 'Part of it had to do with a divorce, another part had to do with his rejection by the right wing of the Republican party because he wasn't partisan enough.

1990

In the early 1990’s the market changed and the company’s owners elected to sell the company.

1993

Taylor Corporation revenues passed the half-billion-dollar mark in 1993.

1994

In its September 1994 issue, Twin Cities Business Monthly reported the company had compiled an annual compound growth rate of almost 13 percent over the past ten years and nearly 25 percent over the past 20 years, while maintaining a solid financial position and enviable profitability record.

Taylor moved into yet another new arena in 1994 and succeeded where others had failed when he executed an $88 million deal to keep the Timberwolves NBA franchise in Minnesota.

1996

American Pad and Paper (Ampad) purchased the converting side of the business and Regency was sold to Taylor in 1996.

1998

He bought a Women's National Basketball Association franchise, the Minnesota Lynx, in 1998.

1999

Sales: $1 billion (1999 est.)

2004

In 2004, Carlson Craft Commercial became Carlson Craft Business Solutions Group.

2006

In 2006, Taylor acquired COSCO Industries.

2008

In 2008, the four companies combined to create Navitor.

On June 17, 2015, it was announced that Taylor Corporation would be acquiring the company for a reported $307 million.

2016

In 2016, Deb Taylor was appointed to serve as the chief executive officer of Taylor Corporation, with Glen Taylor remaining active in the company as its chairman.
