Together with a high level of educational attainment, a successful applicant will demonstrate strong communication skills in teaching ideas, texts, and concepts with precision and confidence. Position Summary
Provide a positive environment in which students engage with interesting coursework and develop lifelong learning skills. Assist the Summer Teacher and provide support for the students in the classroom. Be responsible for maintaining the physical and emotional safety of the students.
Qualifications
Completed 10
th
grade with proof of attendance
Proven experience/education in a specific subject area
Experience in an academic setting
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the teacher to promote student success.
Work independently and with the teacher to meet the established goals of the class.
Follow the class schedule as directed by teacher.
Provide diligent supervision of students during assigned duties.
Grade homework, quizzes, and tests. Prepare class materials as needed.
Meet deadlines set by the Summer Principal.
Set a good example for students and others including: punctuality, dress, language, attitude, and behavior.
Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements
Ability to communicate and work with students in the classroom and provide necessary academic instruction and direction.
Ability to assist teacher in communicating and training students in safety regulations and emergency procedures.
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the position.
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid and emergency responses.
Cognitive and communication abilities to aid the teacher in conducting the academic class to achieve teacher and student objectives.
Working Conditions
May be subject to extended periods of time standing or walking.
Lift equipment/supplies weighing 20 pounds.
Stand up, reach, and bend down to interact with children.

TK Assistant Teachers work closely with a team of teachers to meet the needs of all students in Transitional Kindergarten. TK Assistant Teachers are responsible for supporting a class of students while they work independently and for pulling small groups of students for additional academic support and interventions.Essential Functions:
Motivate students to participate in learning activities; create a positive student culture around learning and small group tutoring; maintain high behavioral expectations for all students
Ensure that students have access to a positive and productive learning environment by enforcing all campus safety rules and behavior expectations
Actively coach students and ensure that all activities effectively meet the needs of students; perform targeted individual interventions and assist struggling students on computer programs
Tutor small groups of students on literacy and/or math skills; use Rocketship-adopted curricula to deliver lessons which align to students Individualized Learning Plans
Conduct weekly progress monitoring assessments of progress for students participating in intervention; communicate progress monitoring results to families and classroom teachers; work with grade level teams to interpret progress monitoring data and use it to make intervention decisions for students
Communicate and collaborate with the teachers at their grade level, and school administrators; participate actively in staff development opportunities as a member of the Rocketship team
Qualifications:
Commitment to Rocketship's mission, vision, and goals
Passion for working with children; ability to motivate and support children in reaching high levels of academic success
Previous experience managing and/or teaching groups of elementary-age students is strongly preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to engage and work closely with a wide range of staff members
Basic computer skills including troubleshooting and an ability to communicate about technical difficulties
Ability to efficiently interpret, manage, and utilize multiple sets of data in order to best support students? progress
Ability to learn laws, rules, practices and procedures related to public education and specific to Rocketship Public Schools
Fluency in English
Flexibility and a willingness to learn
Interest in becoming a credentialed teacher is a plus, but not required.
Bachelor's Degree is a plus, but not required
