This position will also be responsible for responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.

Qualifications Required:
Valid and Active PA Teaching Certification enabling teaching of Elementary K-6 students

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district/school policy, and administrative regulation.
Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
Plan and monitor purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CHILD CARE SITE DIRECTOR / PRE-K COUNTS ASSISTANT TEACHER
As a dual-role professional, you will manage, direct, and coordinate the day care and school-age childcare programs for the assigned location while also serving in the classroom as a Pre-K Counts Assistant Teacher. You are conscientious about safety and ensure all high-quality program standards and procedures are followed. You support your employees by developing strategies for the children in your care and providing an environment for learning.
You are friendly and patient as you actively enroll new children and facilitate the onboarding of each child and his/her parents into the Y Program along with the classroom teacher. As a key liaison between children and their parents, you maintain rapport and communicate on a daily basis. Parents feel confident leaving their children in your capable hands. You develop and maintain relationships with state child care licensing agencies, school administration, parent groups, and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs, responding to all inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. You work in ratio to assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum for children ages 3-5 aligned with Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards.
With enthusiasm, you organize special events for parents. You are also conscientious about keeping records up to date and accurate in accordance with STARS and DHS requirements and ensuring compliance with YMCA standards and government regulation. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CHILDCARE SITE DIRECTOR / PRE-K COUNTS ASSISTANT TEACHER
At least 18 years of age
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent, to qualify as a Group Supervisor under DHS
Three or more years of related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of childcare programs

DESCRIPTION:
Perform a wide variety of duties in support of the educational program
within the classroom including assisting students with reading, writing
and/or math. May include lunch/recess duty. All other duties as assigned.
Candidate must work as a team member, take initiative with minimal direction, be detail-oriented, exercise good judgment, prioritize tasks and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Candidate must have patience and enjoy working with children. Must be a flexible, patient and supportive individual.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 2 years related college course work or Associate Degree.
