Build secure relationships with the children. Work closely with management to ensure adherence to guidelines. Report accidents, illnesses, and unusual behavior to the principal, head of department, and parents. Maintain close communication with parents throughout the day as needed. Protect the safety of all children in the center. Supervise children directly at all times. Use positive phrasing with children. Communicate frequently with children throughout the day, using open-ended questions and naming objects and actions. Exhibit behavior management consistent with Berlin Education Station philosophy. Co-play and interact with children during play activities both indoors and on the playground. Treat each child with dignity and respect, recognizing the cultural and socio-economic diversity of the population. Respond to the individual needs and learning styles of children. Respond promptly and appropriately to children in distress. Oversee all mealtime activities, helping children serve themselves and monitoring them closely during meals. Meet with parents to discuss the goals and needs of students in their program. Coordinate with administration to create education plans for the students. Track the academic performance of students for signs of progress.
