Provide for diaper changing and toilet training functions in the classroom in a safe, sanitary and developmentally appropriate manner. Promote the development of secure relationships with infants and toddlers assigned by assuring primary and continuity of care. Relate to children in a calm, caring, nurturing, soothing manner, responding to all cries, babbles, and talks, using appropriate child guidance techniques at all times. Supervise children at all times during the day. Observe children and record observations in anecdotal records, making appropriate referrals. Assist with developmental screenings, as assigned. Maintain updated individual and group checklists according to program policies and procedures. Provide meals and snacks to children according to their age, development and needs. Conduct family style dining and implement according to program policy and procedures, and CDE Standards. Involve parents in all aspects of the classroom. JOB DUTIES: * Assist educators in implementing the IEP and review daily lesson plans and contribute information and ideas as appropriate * Read and understand IEP and BIP of assigned students * Observe and control behavior according to established procedures * Report progress regarding student behavior and performance to teacher * Provide vocational instruction according to expertise and student program (e.g., woodshop, photography, clerical) * Accompany assigned students to vocational instruction as assigned * Participate in special programs (e.g., assemblies, plays, cultural events) with students as required * Participate in the maintenance of individual student records including progress reports and daily attendance records in accordance with school policies; ensures confidentiality is maintained * Respond appropriately to incidents and problems with students to de-escalate them as quickly as possible; uses crisis intervention skills in communicating with child; participates in physical interventions as necessary, in accordance with Company policies and procedures * Write up and turn in all incident reports * Follow all students that elope from classroom including all breaks, walks, bathroom, etc. * Attend and participates in faculty meetings, in-service programs and workshops to maintain professional knowledge and skills and keep informed as to Company policies and programs that may impact on students; attends and utilizes all required trainings * Assist in maintaining health and safety of students by being aware of environment and the potential of student actions; assists the teacher or specialist according to established guidelines and procedures * Assist students by providing behavioral examples, displaying values and morals, providing emotional support, a friendly attitude and general guidance; assists in directing group activities of students at lunch and other times * Performs other reasonable related duties as assigned PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: In the course of performing this on-site job, the incumbent typically spends time standing, running, walking on sloped/hilly areas of campus, climbing stairs carrying, driving, lifting (up to 40 pounds), listening, speaking, reaching, writing, and participating in restraint procedures.

The Broadoaks School of Whittier College is seeking a Preschool Aide. The Preschool Aide provides support to the teaching staff in the Broadoaks preschool. Aides carry out the lesson plans created by the teaching staff, assist with the supervision of children under the direction of the full-time teachers, and provide support in all areas of the preschool day. Hours: 4 hours per day, 5 days per week Exempt Status: non-exempt Full Time/Part Time status: part time (20 hours/week) Salary Range: $17.00 per hour; Salary will commensurate with experience, skills, and knowledge.
