MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties listed below are intended to describe various types of work that may be performed. Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students. 4. Establishes and maintains standards of classroom management required to achieve effective participation in all activities. 5. Evaluates academic and social growth of students and keeps appropriate records. 6. Prepares and provides progress reports; report cards; and other formal and informal assessment data to parents. 7. Maintains electronic assessment data for access by parent as needed to strengthen communication between the home and the school. 8. Ensures that continuous formative and summative assessments are conducted to gauge student progress and specific teaching and learning needs 9. Provides appropriate instruction and activities for students to meet goals and objectives of the Local Educational Agency Plan (LEAP) and the Single School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). 10. Communicates with parents through a variety of means. 11. Incorporates the use of technology in delivery of lessons. 12. Holds parent conferences to discuss the individual student's progress and interpret the school program. 13. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems. 14. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays such as bulletin boards, interest centers, etc. 15. Maintains professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the District and/or professional growth activities and university courses. 16. Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop goals to be used in the performance evaluation process in accordance with District guidelines. 17. Assists in the selection and requisition of instructional materials and maintains appropriate inventory records. 18. Supervises students during classroom instructional time and out-of-classroom activities. 19. Participates in faculty and/or District committees and the sponsorship of student activities. 20. Participates in Student Study Teams, Individualized Educational Plan meetings as required to meet the needs of the child. 21. Completes professional obligations including participation in grade level meetings; horizontal and/or vertical articulation and collaboration meetings; staff meetings, and professional development activities as required to meet the needs of the LEAP and SPSA. 22. Participates in instructional preparation time that is aligned with the LEAP and SPSA. 23. Provides instruction using various instructional strategies to meet the needs of all learners that ensure student engagement 24. Attends evening activities including Back to School Night, award ceremonies, and other school-related activities. 25. Chaperones or supervises extracurricular activities and field trips as assigned. 26. Cooperatively pursues alternative solutions to remediate pupil learning problems, and to enhance expanded academic, social, and emotional growth opportunities 27. Analyzes student data to accurately evaluate and support student learning 28. Collaborates and articulates with administrator and teachers to ensure program needs are aligned with school and district achievement goals 29. Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned. MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: the California content standards; California Standards for the Teaching Profession; best practices in teaching; differentiated instructional modalities; effective strategies in classroom management;; and other related curriculum objectives. Ability to: Plan, develop, implement, deliver, teach, and evaluate the curriculum and address program needs; engage in the collaborative and team building processes; establish and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with others; maintain records and prepare reports; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures; meet schedules and time lines; work independently with little direction; plan and organize work; exchange information and develop effective lesson plans; read a variety of materials; effectively utilize diversified methods and materials in teaching; learn new methods of teaching through continued staff development; utilize a positive approach to discipline, problem-solving and conflict-resolution; ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other certificated and classified personnel, parents, and community members Licenses/Certificates/Special Requirements: A valid California teaching credential authorizing instruction in a self-contained instructional setting for grades K-5 including credential authorization to teach English language learners. Education/Preparation: Must possess the equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree; basic skills (CBEST or equivalent); completion of a teacher preparation program from an accredited university or college; and subject matter competency in the designated subject areas. Experience: Student teaching, Internship, or full-time teaching experience. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
