REPORTS TO: Bowden Youth Center Supervisor Participants and Program Volunteers and Interns PRIMARY DUTIES: * Client Services * Provide a structured educational tutoring program with independent curricular components and emphasis. * Facilitate recreational and leisure activities as appropriate. * Assist with the supervision of clients during program hours. * Conduct Educational Evaluation/Assessment of program participants. * Conduct Family Assessments with families prior to entering program. * Organize quarterly "Family Night" activities in collaboration with the school system. * Support Services * Maintain consistent communication regarding the progress of each client with schools and other individuals involved with clients. * Participate in referral meetings, assessment, and discharge meetings as requested. * Complete statistics and documentation on client services and activities. * Assist in providing supervision of volunteers during their involvement in program activities. * Ensure consistent and ongoing communication with immediate supervisor for program monitoring purposes. * Participate in regular staff meetings and staff training. * Facility * Maintain safe working conditions. * Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the facility. * Report any maintenance needs to the BYC Supervisor. * Other * Responsible for other duties as negotiated. HOURS: Part time position (30 hours per week, benefits elible) requiring afternoon, evening, and holiday hours. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree in education and experience working with elementary-school students. Valid South Dakota teaching certificate preferred. Requires consistent exercise of discretion and judgment in the performance of duties. Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
