Position Overview The Teacher Assistant role is responsible for providing classroom support to the Lead Teacher and completing daily tasks within a classroom environment. Grade(s): K-5th Duties/Responsibilities Assist teachers with instruction, assessments, grading, and other classroom responsibilities. Support students by providing one-on-one and small group tutoring daily, and small group intervention and student support with the potential of teaching small groups of students. Observe Lead Teachers improve instructional techniques and classroom management. Ensures classrooms are safe and tidy after and after student departure. Supervise students during transitions, breakfast, lunch, and after school. Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues. Participating in annual three-week staff orientation and training. Partner with the SPED Team to review material taught in class with individual students who require additional support. Assist Lead Teacher by problem-solving and making timely determinations with classroom issues solution-focused. Establish, cultivates, and maintains a collaborative relationship with the Lead Teacher. Responsible for managing and reducing risk within the classroom with the support of the Lead teacher and seeking assistance when needed to resolve the matter. Complies with all federal, state, local laws and regulations, including those of the NYS Department of Education, Department of Health, and NYS Office of Children and Family Services. Adheres to organization policies and procedures; promotes and supports mission, vision, and values, including developing and participating in internal surveys and data collection for continuous improvement initiatives.
