Job Summary:
Assiststeachers with individualized and small group instruction for students of all educational levels who have physical or behavioral needs or are medically fragile. May supervise and assist students in library, classrooms, resource rooms, self-contained classroom, playgrounds, or getting on and off a bus.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Assists classroom teachers / special education teachers / special education specialists in the implementation of student IEPs.
* Enters data as needed, research information, documents attendance, prepares and documents communication to parents under the direct supervision of the teacher, and accesses email via computer.
* Models' appropriate behavior for students.
* Follows LWSD policies, procedures and protocols.
* Assists other personnel as may be requested.
* Manages student(s) during simulated or actual emergency crisis (fire alarm, medical emergency, lockdown, etc.) in building.
* Maintains strict confidentiality of student information
Education and Experience Requirements:
* Must hold an Associate degree (AA) or higher OR have completed two years of study equivalent to 72 college quarter credit hours OR have passed an Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment documenting a score of 455 or higher OR have passed the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment with a score of 220 or higher. Official documentation will be required upon hire.

evacuation procedures; assist driver with maintaining attendance records, as

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

3. One (1) year of previous successful preschool, kindergarten, or related experience working with low income families; AND

These are part-time hourly positions bound by the WAC 357-04-045provisions above are substitute classroom assistants. In the absence of regular classroom assistant, assist in the daily routine of preparation, service and clean-up of meal service for children up to five years old.

Report incidences of suspected child abuse to teacher/ teacher aide and make a report to CPS.

Job Responsibilities:
Cleaning and rotating of activities, books and art supplies
Assist with drop-offs
Knowing and following health & safety procedures
Preparing and providing snacks for the children
Offering assistance to children, only when necessary per the Montessori way
Engaging in conversation with children to increase their opportunities for language
Using positive discipline techniques to help students gain self-discipline and learn how to settle their own disputes using conflict resolution skills
Leaving the classroom clean and ready for the morning including using the three-step process to clean and sanitize the tables and chairs
Loading dishwasher, laundry, and ensuring closing duties are met
Follow BMS policies and procedures including keeping up to date with DCYF requirements and continuing education
