strategies for “suddenly single” parents due to deployment. We anticipate two classes

j. (CHANGE) Parents Support Group for Waiting Families. A ninety-minute
session held once a month six times a year that aims to provide support to waiting families, where the family has stayed at Fort Carson while their Soldier spouse has

parents and their children and will be structured as a play group. Nurturing parents'
topics will be introduced in each monthly session to provide parenting tips and

k. (Change) Parents & Children with Special Needs and Health Challenges class
will be offered three times a year and will be coordinated through Child, Youth and
School Services. The curriculum will be based off the nurturing parenting evidenced
based program. Three programs will run throughout a one-year time frame. Audiences
for the classes will target CYS parents and providers and could be taught in an on-
premise CYS facility as appropriate for the sign-up. One class will be offered in
coordination with the FAP Manager during a weekend or evening time frame for parents
with children with special needs. Supplies and workbooks will be government furnished.
Instructors will offer sign-up and assessments to attendees. Contractor will provide
follow-up to parents enrolled through the duration of the class to encourage participation
and attendance.

This individual may assist in the modification of instructional materials as appropriate based on individual student needs under the direction and supervision of the certified teacher. The Special Education Preschool Paraprofessional will provide direct supervision to students during recess, before/after school parent drop-off/pick-up and/or transitioning on/off the school bus. Individuals will make observations, collect data and support the maintenance of student records as well as assist the teacher in transferring information into data management systems. This individual will support students with severe needs with their personal care (toileting/changing) and/or medical/life skills assistance as needed
JOB SUMMARY: Classified - Grade K starting at $20.58 based on previous job experience. 8.5 hours per day on the 4-day/9-month work calendar. Position is eligible for benefits.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Support and supervise preschoolers in and out of the preschool classroom. Ensure safety and security of all children. Provide direct instruction and/or academic support and supervision for preschoolers and for students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The Special Education Preschool Paraprofessional will also assist with behavior intervention plans as well as health care plans.
* Prepare instructional materials for small and large group daily activities under the direction of the teacher. Modify materials to support the instructional programming of the preschool classroom and provide in-class support to students as directed.
* Assist students with their personal care needs, such as toileting, diapering, self-care (e.g. washing face and hands, changing clothes, getting coat/supplies/backpack ready for transitions etc.), eating and tube feeding, and safety monitoring, etc. as necessary and appropriate. In addition, staff are required to document personal care and safety support provided for the purpose of submitting Medicaid forms to the Medicaid Coordinator.
* Sanitize the classroom, student toys, and equipment, as well as ensure that toys, equipment and materials are in good repair at all times in accordance with Department of Health and Human Services licensure regulations.
* Assist in monitoring student's progress and documenting data/observation within the system as directed by the teacher.
* The Special Education Preschool Paraprofessional is required to participate in a minimum of 15 hours annually of professional development / training. Hours must be tracked and certificates must be sent to the Preschool Department.
* Participate in preschool team meetings, building staff meetings, district-wide preschool meetings as well as training and professional development as directed by the building administration, direct supervisor, and/or special education coordinator. Attend student staffings and/or parent meetings at the request of the preschool teacher and/or special service provider.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* High school diploma or equivalent required at time of hire.
* Individuals must have some exposure and/or experience working with and/or being around children.
* Must have the ability to speak/read/write in English and interpret documents such as lesson plans, behavior Intervention Plans, IEPs, staff and student handbooks. Requires the ability to focus on details in order to collect data, write routine communications, and relay accurate information, work independently, yet be able to take directives and follow through from the preschool teacher as well as special service providers. Individuals must be able to remain professional and calm in stressful situations when dealing with students, staff, and parents.
* Physical stamina and ability to be able to lift children and conduct activities on the floor and at the children's level.
* Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.
