Responsibilities:
Implement and evaluate a comprehensive art instructional program aligned with district goals and student needs.

Assess and respond to the diverse educational, social, emotional, and health needs of students.
Actively participate in curricular and extracurricular activities, assessments, and curriculum development processes.

Prepare detailed lesson plans, including substitute plans as needed.
Engage in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) processes and other assessment responsibilities.

Qualifications:
Valid California Single Subject Art credential with English Language Learner authorization, or a Multiple Subjects credential with Supplemental Authorization in Introductory Art.
Knowledge of best practices in teaching, educational theories, classroom management, and student assessment.
Strong adaptability to diverse student learning styles and abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Lead Teacher Trainer Essentials:
A Lead Teacher Trainer must be able to reach most or all of our classes in the metropolitan areas - reliable transportation is essential.
Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10-15 energetic elementary students. Instructors should be comfortable guiding activities, keeping students engaged, and redirecting behavior when needed
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or similar)
Lead Teacher Trainers are expected to set the example of what the best Chess Wizards experience should be for our 4 customer groups: Kids, Parents, School Administration, and Fellow Colleagues, in full alignment with the Chess Wizards Mission Statement.
Must be available during the after school hours at least 4 days per week. Our preference is availability 5 days a week, for our peak program weeks during the fall, winter and spring sessions (semesters). We will ensure that you have a full Monday-Friday after school schedule during our peak program weeks, provided that we have classes scheduled for that day. Actual class start time will vary, depending on the assignment. Most of our classes begin directly after each school's afternoon dismissal bell, which are usually between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Our standard program time is one hour. Teachers must arrive 15 minutes prior to the program start time to set up and prepare, and stay until all students have been safely dismissed to an authorized adult. Our Lead Teacher Trainers are paid per-class (Typical class time is approximately one hour and thirty minutes which includes pre-class setup, instructional time, and post-class responsibilities). Official class times that are longer than one hour pay more, appropriate to the extra time added.

In this role, you will:
Tutor Math for grades 1-6.
Must have strong Math competency through upper elementary grades (skills through pre-algebra).
Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
Provide small group tutoring sessions to students using the provided curriculum and learning technology.
Manage classroom dynamics to ensure a conducive learning environment.
Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The regular requirement is to stand for an hour to an hour and a half, sit, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
You will be required to work outdoors in most weather conditions.

The Chowchilla Union High School District comprises a comprehensive four year academic high school, Chowchilla Union High School, a continuation school, Gateway Continuation, and an Independent Study program. Three school districts serve the overall student population for Chowchilla and the surrounding area, including Alview-Dairyland Union School District (ADUSD) and Chowchilla Elementary School District (CESD), which both feed students into the Chowchilla Union High School District programs. Both ADUSD and CESD are K-8 programs. The City of Chowchilla has a population of roughly 19,000 people including the population of two correctional facilities; one for men (Valley State Prison) and one for women (Central California Women's Facility). Both facilities are located outside of Chowchilla. The City of Chowchilla is still very much considered an agricultural town by virtue of its location, which is completely surrounded by farmland and dairies. Chowchilla has families that range from economically wealthy to very poor. Student free and reduced lunches have averaged 67.2% of the student population over the last 6 years. The Chowchilla Union High School District is governed by a 5 member board that is elected by voter trustee areas.
