The organization assumed responsibility for the Club in Lenoir County in 2010, two Clubs in Beaufort County in 2013, opened a new Club in November 2013 within Greene County Intermediate School and its 10th Club in Robersonville at East End Elementary School in January 2016. Today, more than 1,300 at-risk and in-need young people are taking advantage of the programs, activities and services provided by Clubs. The Professional Tutor will provide individual and small group tutoring to students in the Tutoring Center in order to clarify learning problems and to work on study skills. Other academic assistance might include reviewing class material, discussing the text, predicting test questions, formulating ideas for papers, or working on solutions to problems.
Hourly Pay is based on Degree:
Associate - $16.07/hour
Bachelors - $17.07/hour
Masters & Above - $18.07/hour
Although each discipline has specific tutoring needs, some basic principles apply to all:
* Meet with students individually or in group sessions either through scheduled or nonscheduled appointments
* Assess a student's strengths and weaknesses under guidance from the Tutoring Center Coordinator
* Recognize student success and identify ways for improvement through positive feedback
* Require students to participate actively in sessions within the guidelines, policies, and procedures endorsed by Edgecombe Community College
* Abide by and enforce policies endorsed by Edgecombe Community College and the Tutoring Center
* Explain, model, and offer academic assistance related to the subject or assignment
* Offer suggestions for effective studying or preparing assignments for courses
* Use resources available through the Tutoring Center and online tutoring
* Complete all required forms and documentation on time and by deadlines
* Follow up with tutees in a timely manner when requested
* Discuss students' academic issues and/or progress with instructor(s) to increase retention and student success.
* Communicate with the Tutoring Center Coordinator regarding issues, concerns, and suggestions
* Attend training sessions and meetings
* Arrive for appointments and scheduled hours on time and as scheduled. If unable to work, the tutor should notify the student and Tutoring Center Coordinator ahead of time or as soon as possible after the related absence
* Maintain confidentiality of all involved in the tutoring experience
* Perform and maintain focused tutoring responsibilities in an active, highly productive workplace environment that meets the needs of diverse students, faculty, and staff
* Assist in scheduling and proctoring exams
* Document any Edgecombe Community College and/or Tutoring Center policy violations using the appropriate reporting forms and report incidents to the Tutoring Center Coordinator
* Perform other duties as necessary for effective tutoring
Associate's Degree from an accredited postsecondary institution. Previous experience providing learning support and/or instruction. Demonstrate expertise in at least one of the following subject areas: English, college-level math, chemistry, or biology. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and have the ability to multitask in an active setting. Demonstrate commitment to work with professionalism, courtesy, friendliness, consideration, and confidentiality. Competence with word processing and internet research skills.
Bachelor's degree in English, math, or adult education from an accredited postsecondary institution. College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification.

Responsibilities and Duties
Participates in service planning meetings/weekly team meetings with the Day Treatment team.

Has direct contact with clients.
Reports any incidents or accidents to the QP or Director.
Helps maintain the self-respect, personal dignity, and physical safety of each client. Works cooperatively with the QP/Director and relates favorably to clients and families.
Is familiar with the confidentiality of clients and clients charts.
Is familiar with the Clients Bill of Rights and assists clients in exercising their rights.
Is responsible for reading and adhering to all policies and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned by QP or Director.
Notifies the QP or Director when there is a need for medical attention of any client or any other change in the clients status.
Participates in any job-related Continued Education as required by the Program Director.
Performs other related duties as assigned in accordance with minimum standards.
Qualifications and Skills
-must meet the service definition for paraprofessional according to 10A NCAC 27G .0104.
-must be at least 18 years old.
-must be able to read, write, understand and follow directions.
-must have at least a High School diploma or GED.
-must have the skill, knowledge, and experience with child/adolescent mental health population.
-Paraprofessional-level providers who meet the requirements of the service definition may deliver services under the supervision of the QP.
-must complete training specific to the required components of the service definition including crisis response within the first 30 days of employment.
