Job Description
Uncommon Elementary School Teachers cultivate a love for learning in every student from the very start. Responsibilities
1. Instruction
You'll co-teach and build an engaging and joyful classroom environment that encourages mastery and empowers students to engage in academic discourse.
You'll teach the basic principles of mathematics.
You'll teach reading and writing to build students' literacy skills: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
You'll teach an ELA curriculum that prioritizes meaningful texts and topics that are interesting and relevant.
You'll teach a Science curriculum that prioritizes knowledge of geology, astronomy, ecology, and cycles in nature to ensure students understand climate change and how to take care of the Earth.
You'll teach a Social Studies curriculum that incorporates analyses of America's diverse histories, with an emphasis on cultural and civic awareness.
2. Data Analysis
You'll meet weekly with your principal and/or instructional coach to analyze and respond to trends in student work samples and assessments.
You'll learn and implement strategies to differentiate instruction for all learners in your classroom.
3. School Culture
You'll build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel seen, loved, and heard.
You'll partner with students' families to ensure appropriate resources are available to support their children's learning needs.
You'll engage in practice-based professional development, mentorship, and coaching sessions.
You'll support morning arrival, lunch duty, student assemblies, class transitions, and after-school dismissal.
You'll participate in weekly, school-wide meetings to foster community, model our core values, and encourage student achievement.
You'll partner with your grade level team to develop academic goals and practice instructional strategies.

Required Experience:
A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities (1-2 years experience preferred).

Prior to the start of employment, you must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Teacher certification is not a prerequisite for consideration at Uncommon Schools in the state of NJ, but you do need to meet NJ state certification eligibility requirements (a final undergraduate or graduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 for graduates on or after 9/1/16, or 2.75 if you graduated prior to 9/1/16). Compensation

Job Description
Uncommon High School Math teachers work in grade teams and content teams to push students towards being self-guided learners. Our teachers become experts in their course content, and have a keen sense of how to motivate and inspire high school students. At the heart of all math classes is a deep joy for mathematics. Math teachers use a variety of instructional strategies to cultivate student awareness of how to make sense of, persevere through, and solve problems. At the conclusion of high school, students are prepared for academic autonomy and college preparatory work.
Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the classroom assistant is to work directly with all students and not just those that are at-risk.
Classroom assistants will reinforce instruction to individuals or small groups as directed by the teacher.
Classroom assistants will monitor student work and report student progress in reference to performance to the classroom teacher.
At all times during the instructional day, the classroom teacher has primary responsibility for the students.
Classroom assistants are expected to develop a positive rapport with all students and to treat students with respect.
Classroom assistants are expected to model appropriate behaviors.
Classroom teachers are expected to provide clear direction for the classroom assistant to follow.
Classroom teachers and classroom assistants are expected to interact with each other in a professional manner and resolve any concerns before seeking administrative input.
The classroom teacher is the teacher of record and, therefore, the assessment and recording of student progress must be handled by the classroom teacher. Informal assessments and benchmark assessments in which classroom assistants are trained are the exceptions.
Classroom assistants are expected to respect and follow the policies and procedures established for the class by the classroom teacher.
Classroom assistants are expected to respect and follow the policies and procedures established by the school which includes adherence to Professional Standard of Conduct including confidentiality, code of ethics and appropriate use of the internet, as outlined in Policy and Procedures manual and Employee Handbook.
Classroom assistants are expected to keep records of activities through the use of a daily log.
Classroom assistants will be provided with ongoing professional development in current best practices being implemented at MaST.
It is the responsibility of the classroom teacher to schedule a 15-minute break for the classroom assistant daily.
Follow all approved board of trustee policies including Financial and Purchasing, Attendance, Implementation of RtII and Curriculum Implementation.
Perform other duties appropriate to the position and job title, as assigned by the CEO/principal/classroom teacher.
Terms of Employment: Ten (10) months, Hourly Employees.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of state law, administrative code, and the Board's policy on evaluation.
