NATURE OF WORK: Under general supervision, a teacher assistant performs a variety of technical and clerical tasks in assisting a teacher of students with disabilities. Employee provides individual assistance with academics and behavioral problems and may lead small group activities as directed. PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS: The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to the Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant job classification within Martin County Schools. Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
