SUPERVISION RECEIVED Preschool teacher works under the direct supervision of the Washington City Community Center Preschool Director. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Preschool teachers provide supervision as directed to preschool assistants and parent volunteers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The preschool teacher is responsible for presenting and implementing the preschool curriculum as outlined by the preschool director. He/she is responsible for the day-to-day activities and schedule of the class and for providing a fun loving and effective learning environment for the students. The preschool teacher also creates and presents lesson plans, games and activities in conjunction with the preschool curriculum that supports and implements the academic goals of the preschool program. The preschool teacher is also required to communicate effectively with students and parents as well as co-workers regarding preschool activities, programs, and student behavior issues that may arise. It is the responsibility of the head teacher to lead circle time, academic time, and class activities at tables as well as to direct the assistant teacher. The head teacher is responsible for classroom management, schedule management, dismissal and classroom clean up for his/her assigned class. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: High School Graduate 2 year experience directly related to early childhood education, preschool, daycare or other related fields. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of children's safety including CPR and First Aid certification. Must be familiar with methods, techniques and philosophies of operating a preschool class. Position requires the ability to maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, teachers, assistants, volunteers, parents, and the public. Position also requires an ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Teachers should be able to divert, direct and motivate students while creating and supporting an effective learning environment. Work Environment: Performance in a typical preschool setting with appropriate climate controls. Tasks require a variety of physical activities, lifting, reaching and carrying up to 40 pounds. Communicating, seeing, hearing, and talking is essential to job effectiveness. Many of our participants accept full time seminary teaching positions within central or northern Utah, Idaho or Arizona. This application is the first step in the process individuals must complete to be considered for employment in Seminaries and Institutes. The process consists of the following: 1.
