Emerge Pediatric Therapy provides therapeutic services to support the children and their families in our community. We empower caregivers to help their children develop into confident children. We also support our therapists. We want to see our therapists grow in their careers.
Where are we going?
We have grown our practice to better serve more of the Triangle and surrounding areas. Since 2020, we have opened two additional locations to now include, Cary, Carrboro and Durham. Emerge Pediatric Therapy is a growth-driven practice. Our future goals include continuing to expand our team, to further develop our teams' specialty skills, and to become the #1 sought-after pediatric clinic for both our clients and employees.

Do you love school based practice but don't love what comes with it (read: IEPs, restricted to what you can address...)? The School Based Occupational Therapist position at Emerge Pediatric Therapy just might be what you are looking for! While this position carries out services within the school, the position functions more like a clinic based services in regard to flexibility to work on any OT related goals. You will be a part of a multidisciplinary school based team, and also have the support of the Durham clinic location for utilization of materials and resources. The ideal candidate for this position will have foundational knowledge of sensory processing and how that impacts students, as well as be eager to learn, grow and develop as a clinician.
This therapist will fulfill our community school contracts in the Durham - Chapel Hill area.

Thorough and timely evaluations
Upholding the reputation of the company by carrying out highly beneficial treatment sessions
Educating clients/families on the plan of care so that carryover and consistency are achieved
Therapy completed in a fun, creative way that adheres to guidelines of best practice

POSITION PURPOSE:
Provides students with additional time and instruction focused on reading during the summer camp weeks using Reading Camp curriculum to accelerate their reading performance and achievement. Assesses students at the end of Reading Camp with the goal that students will demonstrate growth in reading on the Read to Achieve Test and/or on the state portfolio passages.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Extensive knowledge and understanding of current principles, practices, and trends in the areas of elementary education and reading;

/ The Goal of the Role:
The goal of an exceptional education teacher is to support student development. Our EC teachers will support an array of content areas (although in the future we hope they will settle into one content area) to ensure students are getting the modifications and support that they need. This incredible work is done through coaching and support from administration, implementing regular feedback, collaboration with colleagues, data analysis, and working to make sure that students who come in below grade level rise above the challenges they face.
/ The Nuts and Bolts of Being a Team Member at CCHS:
Start of the Day: The workday begins at 8:15 (with a daily morning huddle). Students arrive at 8:30, and classes start at 8:45.
End of the Day: The workday ends at 4:25. Students are dismissed at 4:10.
Early Dismissal: Fridays have rotating early dismissal for staff members.
Annual Calendar: The school will follow a mostly traditional calendar with some quirks and features that allow for school initiatives (school-wide projects, professional development, etc.).
/ Position Responsibilities:
As an Exceptional Children' s teacher, you will:
Design and implement data-driven lesson plans that help grow and support students who may have cognitive and/or developmental delays
Develop individualized education programs (IEPs) for students and maintain special education files, both paper and electronic files, as directed by federal, state, and local practices.
Collect data on individual student skills to determine the effectiveness of programming and measure progress toward IEP goals
Lead IEP meetings for students on your caseload
Maximize the creation of independence across all natural settings
Work as a team member and advocate for students to gain exposure to general education peers and settings as appropriate
Plans effective instructional and/or behavioral strategies for adapting and modifying the general curriculum to ensure all students have access to academic content.
/ Other Functions
Supports other classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans.
Serve as an advisor to 15 students in the schools House and Advisory model
/ Qualifications
Teaching Experience:
2+ Years of teaching experience preferred
Valid NC Exceptional Education certification and teaching license
Previous experience with Literacy instruction
Experience using technology to drive instruction
Education:
Bachelors Degree
