* Minimum Qualifications
* Master’s Degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching area.
* Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Teacher education, state certification in subject matter or administration for education positions
* Bilingual (Spanish) for all Bilingual education positions
* Preferred Qualifications
* Terminal degree in the discipline or a closely related discipline
* Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate courses.
* Academic experience working on a campus with culturally diverse students, staff and faculty.
* Bilingual skills for positions in EC
* Bilingual program
* Physical requirements necessary to perform essential job functions
* Work is primarily sedentary.
* Sits comfortably to do the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or lifting items weighing up to 15 pounds.

What Does A Teacher Education Instructor Do At Southern Illinois University

* Provide the Child Development Coordinator in providing assistance to ensure a safe and nurturing environment in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards, program policies and procedures and Department of Children and Family Services Day Care Licensing Standards.
* Perform work that includes both center classroom support and support to the child/development service area, which may require reporting to the administration office on days that children are not in attendance
