POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Cello Teacher to join our music education team. The teacher will work with students in 1st through 3rd grade, introducing them to the fundamentals of cello playing in a supportive and engaging environment. This is an in-person position, for groups of 5-8 students, on two afternoons per week from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership Provide cello instruction to beginning students in grades 1-3 Develop age-appropriate lesson plans that build foundational technique and musicality Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment Communicate regularly with parents and school staff about student progress Maintain instruments and ensure proper use and care by students Write reports on student progress twice a year Prepare students to perform at the Lower School Winter Concerts in December and K-8 Spring Concert in May SCHOOL-WIDE DUTIES Participate in school committees as needed and appropriate Attend all school-wide mandatory events QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS Proficiency in cello performance and teaching fundamentals Experience teaching young children, preferably in a classroom or group lesson setting Ability to manage small groups and adapt instruction for various learning styles Strong communication and interpersonal skills Bachelor's degree in music, music education, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
