Purpose: Lake Norman Charter (LNC) is a K-12 public charter school that provides a rigorous and comprehensive educational environment to develop students with a focus on college readiness, leadership, and social responsibility.
The EC Teacher Assistant supports the program delivery for all students with disabilities in the Exceptional Children's Department. The scheduling of specific job duties are coordinated between the EC teacher and building principal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Observes and monitors students' performance. Collects and documents data to assess progress on students' Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals.
Tutors and supports EC students individually or in small groups across all curricular areas to reinforce learning concepts presented by the teacher.
Coordinates regularly with both the EC and regular education teacher to assist with preparing lessons and adapting instructional materials.
Assists with the implementation of accommodations, behavior plans, and related service delivery in a student's IEP.
Provides assistance with the supervision and transition of EC students in the hallways, classrooms, lunch, and other locations at school.
Supervises students in non-classroom activities such as carpool, lunch, recess, etc.
Assists and monitors EC students during recess, assemblies, emergency drills, and field trips.
Assists with the personal care needs of students with disabilities (feeding, toileting, diapering).
Participates in training related to performing job duties.
Performs related tasks as required or directed by the building principal.

High school diploma or equivalent certification

General Statement of Job
The Title III EL teacher assistant will work with EL students and parents to supplement EL services provided by the EL teacher. The TA will work with the EL teacher and/or content teachers to implement instructional strategies and also communicate with parents during any remote learning to meet the needs of English Learners. The EL teachers will review student data and work with content teachers to identify EL students needing additional support with grade level content. The TA will work one-on-one or in small groups with the EL students.
Essential Job Functions
Collaborate with EL and content teachers to identity educational areas of need for the students
Work with EL and/or content teachers to implement plan lessons and activities
Give individual attention to the EL's educational needs
Keep records and provide information about student progress to the EL and/or content teachers
Supplement EL services and communicate with families to ensure understanding of educational expectations during remote learning.
Meet with EL and/or content teacher regularly to discuss student needs and progress
Must be fluent in English. Fluency in Spanish is also preferred, but not required.

Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
Physical Requirements: The work regularly requires standing and walking around the classroom and school. It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. The work often requires bending, squatting, reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights and rarely, the lifting of weights above 30 pounds. The work occasionally handles/works with biohazards and/or risks for potential job-related injury, such as those found in a laboratory or shop environment. The work requires activities occasionally involving driving automotive equipment.
Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as office equipment and hand tools. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and hear: (Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear.) Must be able to communicate via telephone.
