    High School Science Teacher Job Description Chemistry Summary: New West Charter is an award-winning 6-12th grade independent charter school in Los Angeles, California. Our school attracts a diverse student population from all over the area, focuses on academics, and builds confidence through the arts and athletics. We are looking to add an enthusiastic science teacher to New West's high school faculty to serve students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate would be a highly qualified and experienced teacher who is ready to lead five periods of chemistry (one or two of which would be Honors) and a weekly advisory/homeroom class. We're looking for a teacher that can communicate their passion for the subject to students in every lesson in alignment with the Next Generation Science Standards. Teachers are expected to engage students in lessons that help them make meaning for themselves through classroom activities (demonstrations, simulations, labs, discussions, debates), assignments (creative projects and evidence-based persuasive papers), and assessments (multiple formative and summative assessments to measure progress towards mastery).
