The Media Center Teacher Aide is responsible for assisting the Media Center team in recording and editing video, audio, and photo projects, supervising students on set and in the Library Media Center, and assisting in the maintenance, production, and publishing of school media.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 30 hours of college credit is preferred.
ISBE license required (PARA, SUB, ELS-CTE or PEL) registered with Lake County ROE.
Experience working with high school students is preferred.
Spanish-speaking ability preferred.
Must have video production and editing experience.
Must have camera operation and videography experience.
Must have the ability to take direction, work collaboratively, and/or produce a video from start to finish.
Experience in at least one of the following is required: education, broadcast journalism, event coverage, live production, multimedia marketing, or documentary filmmaking.
Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud is preferred, but not required.
Live production (broadcast or live streaming) experience is preferred
Gaffing, grip, and studio lighting experience is preferred.
Experience mentoring and working with students in a production environment is preferred.
Photography or audio engineering experience is a bonus.
High School or University media experience is a bonus.
Must have interest in media production and instructional technology.
Must be patient, flexible, student centered, and mission driven.
Excellent customer service aptitude and skills.
Possess common sense, problem-solving skills and reasoning ability to appropriately deal with supervisory situations.
The ability to set goals and establish methods for achieving these goals.
The ability to work collaboratively with staff and students who engage with the Media Center.
Essential Functions:

Assist with video editing tasks and selecting b-roll footage.
Check out media equipment to staff and students, providing usage instruction.
Participate in setup, takedown, and monitoring of complex studio, lighting, and A/V livestream setups for events.
Help maintain Media Center space, studio, and equipment, ensuring brand standards across all media.
Supervise and assist students in the Library Media Center as needed.
Perform clerical duties such as processing materials, assembling packets and equipment, and conducting inventories.
Support the upkeep of the Media Center's physical appearance and usability.
Assist teachers with A/V needs for curricular purposes.
Willingly learn to assist students with software and equipment.
Carry out additional administrative or clerical tasks related to the Media Center as assigned.

Apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Mathematical and Technical Skills
Calculate figures, estimates, proportions, percentages, and cost projections. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Strong technology skills, including standard Microsoft Office suite / Google Workspace, financial management, and data analysis.
Reasoning Ability
Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of verbal and written instructions and deal with multiple abstract and concrete variables.
