Professional responsibilities Follow contractual responsibilities Engage in reflective practice Maintain accurate records Communicate with families Engage in professional development activities Maintain appropriate licensure Collaborate with others to achieve a common goal PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES * Support the philosophy and vision of exceptional services in the Geary County School District. * Attend final general education student intervention team meetings to ensure that all documentation of the general education intervention process and response to invention documentation necessary to the evaluation process has been completed accurately. * Monitor all referrals through the evaluation process, meet with evaluation team regularly. * Review IEP and Evaluation files to ensure that they meet all regulatory and district standards, are written to reflect best practice, reflect high quality programming and are implemented with integrity. * Submit all required documentation to the district office in a timely manner. * Enter accurate data into the district student information system in a timely manner. * Possess knowledge legal regulations governing our program. * Utilize data to guide the focus of student IEPs and improve student achievement. * Provide management of learning programs for assigned students setting behavioral objectives, using appropriate learning strategies to further student development, and evaluating progress based on stated performance criteria.. * Supervise, provide professional development, and coordinate the scheduling of paraprofessionals. * Assist with the integration of exceptional students into the general education program. * Keep informed regarding new technologies that facilitate and support student learning. * Communicate clearly and accurately with administrators, staff, parents, students and agencies. * Plan and implement transition services for students. * Respect the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, and state, and federal laws. * Participate as a team member in the comprehensive evaluation, review, and re-evaluation process. * Assist general education teachers in the development and implementation of universal design methods, curricular modifications, and appropriate classroom strategies to meet instructional, psychological and social needs of each student. * Provide demonstration of effective teaching practices within the classroom. * Establish mentoring relationships among teachers to support inclusion activities. * Intervene and provide support with discipline problems of exceptional students. * Work collaboratively with Mental Health Department personnel on site and/or in local regions. * Maintain a professional knowledge level of the dynamics of students with serious behavioral and emotional problems. * Maintain a professional knowledge level of formal and informal assessment techniques and instruments in order to develop appropriate learning programs and behavior management techniques. * Oversee the collection, analysis and interpretation of evaluative data regarding exceptional students in the educational settings. * Keep informed regarding new technologies and research-based teaching practices that facilitate and support student learning. * Uphold and enforce Board policies, administrative procedures, school rules, and federal and state regulations including but not limited to Kansas Plan for Special Education Consolidated Plan for Federal Programs Acceptable use of technology * Additional job duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
