Role Overview:
The Building Substitute provides critical, flexible support to students, classrooms, and the building at large that help our schools ensure that a) learning is maximized for students every day and b) successful, smooth day-to-day operations. The Building Substitute will provide classroom coverage as needed and should be comfortable and confident stepping into lead quality instruction across a variety of classrooms (guidance and resources will be provided). The Building Substitute will also provide a variety of other support services that support the healthy functioning of the school, including support with arrival, dismissal and transitions, general classroom assistance, student supervision and support in common spaces (like lunch and recess), tutoring and small group learning, and other relevant duties as assigned. You will also oversee the site's guide staff as well as the volunteer and student intern programs, working in collaboration with site staff on recruitment, training, mentorship, coordination, and evaluation in support of museum programs and operations.
You will also have the opportunity to play an integral part in the daily operation of the historic site. This involves overseeing visitor services, including operation of the reception desk, visitor orientation, and point of sale operations.
At times, you will be the primary PHMC representative on-site, responsible for ensuring daily museum operations run smoothly and in alignment with established guidelines for safety. Position Overview
The Building Substitute provides critical, flexible support to students, classrooms, and the building at large that help our schools ensure that a) learning is maximized for students everyday and b) successful, smooth day to day operations. * Follow lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students
* Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment
* Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student
* Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground and in the cafeteria
