SUMMARY:
Instructs students at the elementary levels in activities designed to promote social, emotional, and intellectual growth in subject matters and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.

Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc. and communicates these objectives to students.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities daily.
Assists students in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere daily.
Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports as appropriate and required.
Identifies student needs and makes appropriate referrals and assists in developing strategies for individual education plans daily as needed.
Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner daily as needed.
Communicates regularly with parents outside of the normal classroom day by various means such as newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc. daily as needed.
Plans, coordinates and supervises the work of teacher associates, parents and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips as needed.
Works as a team member on building level committee and collegial activities within the building and District.
Collaborates with peers in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to identify required knowledge, skills and outcomes, analyze evidence of student learning, develop timely and systematic interventions for struggling learners and provide enrichment and extension activities for proficient students.
Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
Meets core expectations for all certified staff reflected in the Iowa Teaching Standards, Iowa Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics, Iowa Administrative Code, Board Policy, and the district performance evaluation system.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises students during all school-related activities and teacher associates and volunteers as appropriate.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
