    Our Agency The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is the state agency that focuses solely on policies, programs, and services for people with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia's public safety net, DBHDD operates six field offices and five hospitals throughout the state within three program areas: behavioral health, developmental disabilities, and hospital services. East Central Regional Hospital (ECRH) has two campuses: Gracewood, established in 1921; and Augusta, established in 1969. On July 1, 2003, these two previously separate facilities officially consolidated and became ECRH. The facilities serve DBHDD's 33-county East Central Region (Region 2). The 420-acre Gracewood campus provides services for people living with developmental disabilities in both an ICF/IID and a skilled nursing facility setting. The 310-acre Augusta campus provides mental health and forensic services. Each campus includes living areas, activity areas, administrative buildings, and support buildings. The incumbent for this position must perform the following duties: * Under general supervision, assesses client health problems and needs. * Develops and implements nursing care plans and maintains medical records. Administers nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled clients. * May advise clients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management. Administers prescribed medications or starts intravenous fluids, and notes times and amounts on clients' charts. * Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate client care plans. Maintains accurate, detailed reports and client records. * Modifies client treatment plans as indicated by clients' responses and conditions. Monitors all aspects of client care, including diet and physical activity. * Monitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in clients' conditions. * Observes nurses and visits clients to ensure that proper nursing care is provided. Prepares clients for, and assists with, examinations and treatments. * Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies, and ensures that stock of supplies is maintained. Provides education to client and family. Provides health care, first aid, immunizations and assistance in convalescence and rehabilitation Qualifications - Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse or Multistate license; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Registered Nurse 1 (HCP070) or position equivalent. * This is temporary or hourly paid work performing professional health care services. Positions in this job are established for less than 9 months or scheduled for less than 30 hours per week and are not eligible for benefits if the position status is temporary (i.e., SCOA 513). Positions in this job are established for greater than 9 months and scheduled for greater than 30 hours per week if the position status is permanent labor (i.e., SCOA 512). Normally permanent labor positions are eligible for Health Insurance benefits.
