Primary Purpose Provide individual and small group tutoring to students in the Tutoring Center and other various locations around campus as needed. Assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with them on a regular basis to clarify learning problems and work on study skills. Provide class note to students who qualify for accessibility services. Other assistance might include: reviewing class material, discussing the text, predicting test questions, formulating ideas for papers, or working on solutions to problems. Tutoring is a supplement to classroom teaching. Tutors are not expected to know everything about the subject for which they tutor.
The Southwestern tutoring program is internationally certified by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). Tutors may earn up to three certifications (Initial, Advanced, and Master) by completing tutor training and tutoring hours. All tutors who wish to work for Southwestern are required to complete tutor training.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position assists general education teaching staff in classroom and community settings by performing instructional tasks in small groups and one-on-one settings and provides student supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completed at least two years of related college education, an AA degree, or meet the Highly Qualified requirements
Prior successful experience working in a school setting or with young children strongly preferred
