The data you provide should ideally show progress over time; as such, it is recommended (though not required) that you provide data for at least two assessments taken at different points in time. The assessment data must be accompanied by a copy of the assessments themselves. If a specific assessment is unavailable, provide a copy of a similar assessment. The assessment data must also be accompanied by a written narrative that provides background on the assessments, explains how the assessments measure student performance, and analyzes the results of your class. There is no minimum or maximum length for the narrative. Option C: Original Curricular Tool of any form that you have personally developed. The requirement here is deliberately open-ended because we are interested in seeing anything that you have developed that you believe has meaningfully supported your students' learning. Duties and Responsibilities Administers Support the teacher in using appropriate methodologies when working with students such as Applied Behavior Analysis or Collaborative Problem Solving or any agreed upon method which acts in the best interest of the student Create an authentic environment by displaying student work and projects both in and out of the classroom Maintain a consistent and safe environment for the students Support the teacher in planning and executing daily lessons which meet the needs of individual students as well as appropriate group lessons Modify any materials needed to successfully teach students Maintain accurate records by recording relevant information in each students' binder Write annual reports for each student following specific guidelines Support the implementation of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Behavior Intervention Plans for each student Administer assessments to evaluate student progress and identify areas of deficit or concern Collaborate with other professionals including guidance, speech therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, behavior specialists, and vocational directors to create a team approach Promote health and safety concepts and social interaction with other students Participate in all necessary trainings, team meetings, community activities and school functions Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding classroom dynamics and student development Complete daily attendance reports Supervise and assist students in bathroom activities including hourly diaper checks/ diaper changing (when required) Supervise all mealtime activities including cleaning up after snacks and meals Assist in rest time by putting out / putting away cots, folding of blankets and washing and returning bottles (when required) Assisting in the ordered arrangement, appearance and learning environment of the rooms to include sweeping floors, cleaning counters, shelves, refrigerators, microwaves etc Attendance at all staff meetings, required workshops and open houses. Academics West is searching for a Teaching Assistant for our Lower School. The ideal candidate is bright, energetic and motivated to help children with learning and emotional challenges. The applicant will be committed to learning and infusing our Clinically Informed Academics model. Preference is given to candidates who have prior experience in de-escalation strategies such as Crisis Prevention Intervention. Start date: Immediate Hours: Monday through Friday 8:30AM to 2:30 PM Academic West's Teacher assistants' primary function is to support the Head teacher in the Lower school in accomplishing classroom/lesson objectives. They support instructional activities by assisting and reinforcing learning concepts while providing behavioral and classroom management to promote a thriving classroom environment. These duties also include helping Lead Teachers with basic administrative tasks such as recording behavioral progress, progress reports, or recording grades. Additionally, they may consult with teachers on student performance, and may oversee students outside of the classroom during school events and/or related activities and respond to students who are exhibiting challenging behaviors. Roles and Responsibilities: Mark students after every period for the following: Taking attendance (absent, present, on-time). Marking students for appropriate in-class behavior (on-task, respectful, on-time). Completing the classroom cleaning checklist. Provide support with classroom management: Directing appropriate student classroom behaviors (e.g., sitting upright, feet on the ground, head up, awake, etc.) Providing reminders to students in a neutral tone when not engaging inappropriate behavior. Providing additional emotional support/attention to students (e.g., stepping outside to check-in with a student, offering a break, giving options to students providing solutions PRIOR to requesting on-call support. Providing academic support to accomplish lesson objectives. Being familiar with the Lead Teacher's weekly lesson plans (e.g., to support in case of an absence/pull-out). Consulting with Lead Teacher on student performance through such actions as aiding with report writing, recording grades. Attending weekly school meetings and bi-weekly team meetings as requested.
