SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for the professional instructions designed to provide academic, social, physical, and skills development for students in specific grades/subject areas to prepare them to be successful citizens and workers in the 21st century.
Essential Job Functions
Creates an educational environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and needs of the students; prepares instructional materials for classes assigned and provides written evidence of preparation to supervisor/administrator upon request.
Establishes a standard of classroom behavior; maintains classroom management in and outside of the school.
Assess the accomplishments of students on an established timetable, and provides written and oral progress reports to parents/guardians, administrators and selected staff; administers tests and assessments.
Plans curriculum and prepares lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of students within state and school requirements based on the educational, physical, and emotional levels of student development.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree and endorsement in the grade/subject taught with a valid Tennessee certificate. Must be highly qualified. Governed by the Rules and Regulations of the Tennessee Code Annotated and the collective bargaining agreement. Guide and facilitate activities of the children including daily classroom activities and field trips.
Select and set up equipment and materials in the classroom and ensure a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment.

Work in cooperation with Manager of Education & Inclusion to develop and document progress on professional development plan; actively engage in professional development activities to increase qualifications.
Keep classroom clean and organized.
Ensure the mobilization and documentation of matching-in-kind activities, goods and services.
Work may require the flexibility to stay until all children have been pick up by parent/legal guardian.

Required Qualifications
At a minimum, a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or comparable credential and have been trained or have equivalent coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development.
