They promote the academic and social success of students by running activities, leading study sessions, and supervising on-campus and off-campus events. Auxiliary Residential Teaching Assistants (ARTAs) supervise the arrival and departure of students on the airport shuttle on opening and closing days. ARTAs support students when RTAs are scheduled for time off. All residential staff complete student supervision duties to support the residential program, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner supervision. RTAs live among their residents and have rotating overnight responsibilities.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Joint Class Size Assessment Council (JCSAC) allocates Class-Size Teacher Assistant positions to address oversized classrooms in Priority Schools and other impacted schools. What You Will Be Doing:
You will provide supplemental instruction to small groups of students struggling with Math in a pull-out classroom setting, directly impacting their learning and academic performance.
Collaboration and communication are not just aspects of this role; they are its essence. You will work closely with the student's classroom teachers to align instruction, support struggling students' development in Math, and extend classroom instruction. Together, we can make a difference.
Develop and implement lesson plans to improve academic performance.
Your role is not just about teaching Math but also about creating a positive, achievement-oriented learning environment. Your ability to motivate student attendance is crucial in shaping their attitudes toward learning, a responsibility we take very seriously.
Continuously assess students' progress, formally and informally, to adjust instruction and grouping.
Understand the need to complete the compliance forms required and adhere to Title I guidelines and requirements.
Effective communication is key in this role. You will be expected to regularly update PLI management, school staff, and families on student progress, fostering a collaborative environment.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree (Preferred) 3-4 years of education at the college or university level
Basic requirements:

Department: Temp Center Salary/Grade: TMP/01 Teaching Assistant Academic Summer Day Camps, PreK - Grade 5 Teaching Assistants work closely with instructors to provide safe, challenging and differentiated experiences in the classroom. They also supervise students during breaks, lunch periods and all transition times.

Time Commitment
* Chicago and Evanston: approximately 8:15am to 4:15pm, including a 30-minute unpaid break
* Mondays and Wednesdays arrive for 8am staff meetings
* Downers Grove: approximately 8:30 - 12:15
Qualifications
* Current or past enrollment in a college undergraduate (or higher) degree program.
* Previous experience working with children in a classroom, camp, or online setting. Preferred: Experience with high-ability and twice-exceptional students.
* Strength and mobility to supervise active children in a classroom and outdoor settings, including the ability to lift a child weighing approximately 40 pounds.
General Responsibilities
* Learn and implement CTD policies and procedures.
* Uphold and promote the CTD Honor Code among staff and students.
* Follow all CTD rules and regulations concerning staff conduct and appropriate dress.
* Assume program-related responsibilities as requested by Site Coordinator and/or Program Coordinator, including attendance at online and/or onsite training sessions.
* Provide instructional support in collaboration with Instructor, including small group facilitation and individual support.
* Set up and cleanup of classroom materials and technology.
* Document student participation and progress toward learning outcomes.
* Actively supervise students during breaks and transition times, including lunch and recess supervision.
* Substitute for instructor, if necessary.
* Review student health notes and uphold confidentiality policies.
