PRIMARY FUNCTION: Under direct or general supervision, provides assistance to a special education classroom teacher, performing a variety of tasks relating to the instructional, behavioral, social-emotional, and/or physical needs of students with disabilities in a special education, public separate day school setting; works with individual students and small groups to help students adapt to the school environment and to achieve the goals and objectives in their individualized education plan (IEP), and to continue to work toward the goal of returning to a less restrictive educational setting and/or preparing for post-secondary education, employment, and independent living.
