Impact and Opportunity:
This Bridge Inspection Team Assistant is responsible for performing bridge safety inspections and other structure related inspections in accordance with NBIS and PennDOT Pub 238. This position will work closely with other Team Assistants and Team Leaders to ensure inspections are completed accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
* Inspects structures in accordance with NBIS and Pub 238.
* Identifies deficiencies, evaluates their conditions, and properly codes structure in i-forms.
* Records and maintains records of conditions of structures using i-forms and BMS2.
* Uses hand tools to remove defective materials in order to properly evaluate conditions on individual parts of a structure.
* Uses ladders, hydraulic man-lifts, and under-bridge cranes to access portions of structures that are otherwise inaccessible.
* Uses measuring devices and other non-destructive testing methods.
* Prepares preliminary draft technical inspection reports from field inspection data using i-forms.
* Prepares maintenance needs for structure inspections.
Requirements:
* Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field strongly preferred.
* Experience: Zero (0) to two (2)+ years of experience bridge inspection.
* Licensure/Certification: CBSI or ability to obtain CBSI.
